Spoiler Warning: If you don’t want to jump ahead of the broadcast shows then stop right here and read something else from our Big Brother 8 coverage. Otherwise, proceed to see what craziness is going on in the house right now. It’s Kuh-Razy!

Jen, our nanny from California, has made questionable game play decisions throughout the first half of the season. However, I think it’d be fair to say that we can throw all of that out the window, because what she did this week just might take the Stupid Trophy, either that or it was a very clever move. Following the semi-surprising Power of Veto ceremony where we saw Daniele remove Amber and replace her with Jen things started to get a little shakey with said replacement nominee. These events are likely to redirect the current flow of the house and will make for a very interesting Thursday Eviction.
So what’s a replacement nominee to do when she realizes she’s headed down a path to certain eviction? Why throw a hissy fit of course. Last week we saw Dick implement a “hate me, evict me” plan which ended up back firing in a good way for him and landing back in the safety zone. I’m not so sure that’s part of Jen’s plan though, but let’s see.
In retribution against the Donatos for her nomination Jen began a series of downward spiraling events. First Jen started proclaiming that she would refuse to go to sequester as the weekly pay was too low and she’d walk home instead. Interesting how it’s not about the money until she’s losing (sound familiar Jameka?). From there Jen started packing up all her belongings and hiding them around the house. Now that is really weird to me, but whatever let’s keep going. The real mess started when Jen went to the storage room and began destroying Dick’s cigarette stash. She broke them apart, crushed the boxes, and did pretty much whatever else a six year old would do to another child’s toys to be mean. Jen’s justification, “excuse” may be a better word, is that she asked before the game started if she could destroy cigarettes and that she was told it’d be acceptable. Turns out someone was lying as Jen was then pulled into the Diary Room for a lengthy meeting to discuss.
During this time Dick played his own games on Jen by locating her belongings and stashing them away in the HoH. Dick was very careful to stay within the guidelines of “hide is okay, but destroy is bad.” Things go back and forth from here as Jen comes out of the Diary Room and Dick heads in, and then back and forth, back and forth. Following one of her return visits Jen brings replacement cigarettes for Dick, but is pissed off about him hiding her clothes. Apparently feeling betrayed by Big Brother’s seeming favoritism for Dick over Jen she decides she’ll go ahead and start eating food again. Don’t forget, Jen is on a Big Brother Slop only diet due to her PoV agreement the other week. As a punishment for her culinary misbehavior Jen is called back to the Diary Room and given a “penalty nomination”. A penalty nomination is very rare in Big Brother, but it has happened before despite my inability to recall the specific season or player involved. When a penalty nomination occurs the guilty party is placed on the chopping block without the chance to play for PoV. Since the nominations already included Jen this week her penalty nom is delayed until next week, should she still be here. Jen explained this situation to her housemates along with the side note that sending Jameka home would be smarter as Jen would remain a sitting duck for next week, ready to be picked off again. *Update below on the nomination penalty*
This change in the game immediately put the strategy gears into motion as the house guests started to discuss the pros and cons of keeping Jen in limbo and getting rid of the other limbo nominee, Jameka. While overall I think Jen did a really stupid thing just from a general way of life, it might not have been that stupid for her game-wise. Jen was clearly heading out the door in just a few days, so to potentially buy herself another week isn’t too bad. We’ve seen a lot of things shift rapidly in the house (ref: Eric in Week 5) so who knows, Jen could align herself to stay in the house next week despite being automatically nominated and PoV-less in the days to come.
The tough part for Jen will be convincing at least three people (5 votes total this week) that she’s worth saving over Jameka. From what I’ve seen Jameka is a weaker competitor and will remain unable to compete for HoH for several more weeks to come, where as Jen will return after just one more week. The other thing to consider is who would benefit by keeping Jen? I can’t think of one person in the house that would come out on top of that deal. Even voting to keep her around just to draw Dick’s fire seems like a dangerous idea. I say this is one of those “bird in the hand” situations and the house guests should pounce on it while they can. Get rid of Jen now, focus on Amber next week, and then eliminate Jameka in her final week of no-HoH. See ya Jen!
Update: Turns out the producers/decision makers have changed their minds on Jen’s penalty nom. Instead of being forced up on the block next week it’s now rumored to be that she’ll instead get a “penalty vote” this week. Considering that situation I’d still back the idea of getting rid of Jen this week instead of risking anything and waiting for another chance.

Very interesting! Does a “penalty vote” mean 1 vote to evict Jen and a total of 6 votes this week?

You got it. This “penalty vote” will be like a ghost voter in the house. So there will be one more vote than voters this week with that extra vote going against Jen’s survival. I think she’s doomed!
