Big Brother 8

First off, thank you to Big Brother for a second satisfying eviction this week with the departure of Amber. Week after week of listening to her idiotic ramblings and declarations of the need for “good people” to win this game I didn’t think I could deal with her much longer. Lucky for me, and you if you’re one of the 78% that voted to evict her, Amber did plenty to help move along her own eviction.

Amber’s first mistake in this game was her lack of participation in actually playing the Big Brother game. She finally realized last week that she hadn’t been trying very hard and that she needed to step up her game. No kidding. Amber was nearly the height of floating as she did little more than make friends to use as emotional sounding boards rather than trying to really form alliances. If she hadn’t been so buddy buddy with Dustin I doubt she would have even been part of the LNC-7. I can’t recollect Amber having won a single thing during her stay in the BB house despite her constant “visions”. I believe the biggest contributor to Amber’s weak effort was her next mistake.

A sense of self-righteousness and continued belief of “I just know I’ll win” didn’t do a bit of good in Amber’s pursuit of the half million dollars. Instead Amber would simply state that she should win HoH, PoV, or whatever else was up for grabs. Amber believed she was “good people” and therefore deserved the blessings of God and the admiration and support of her fellow house guests. I don’t think there was a lower grade individual in that house and that says a lot for me as I think Dick isn’t too grand nor was Jen. Between Amber’s disgusting, racist comments, the way she threw around her daughter as a playing card, stating she had the face and personality to be a model, and little things like swearing she never lied while lying were all signs of her oblivious nature. I really think that Amber actually believed the things she was saying and was therefore more detached from reality than anyone else in this reality show. If she had being paying better attention to the situations in the house she never would have let Dustin, her biggest ally, put himself up on the block. She also could have done more to fight for herself in her last few weeks there by striking up alliances.

Looking back I really wish Amber had been sent out the first week and we got to keep Carol a little longer. I found no redeeming qualities in Amber or her game play. She was just as frustrating to watch cry in the Diary Room on the broadcasts as she was to hear babbling on the live feeds. Having Amber evicted and sent to the sequester house should make for a difficult vote to earn as she’s likely to not cast her final vote based on game play, but rather her qualifiers of “good people”. Looking at the players remaining Amber would likely vote Jameka first, Jessica next, and then work her way down to either Dick or Eric as least likely to garner her support come finale time.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.
