I’ll admit that I’m surprised Halloween managed to take the number one spot at the theaters this weekend. I thought this would be a dangerous one to tackle and from the reviews I’ve heard it wasn’t great. Thankfully Superbad continues to do very well with its grand total nearing $100 million which is great for its $20M budget. Clearly word of mouth is serving it well to stay in the top 2 for 3 weeks. The other new releases did so-so with Balls of Fury picking up the #3 spot with a very modest $11.6 million. Kevin Bacon’s semi-disappointing killing spree movie Death Sentence struggled to find its footing and earned only $4.1M with the #8 spot. My review for Death Sentence will be up tomorrow. Next weekend should really pick things up with two big movies: 3:10 to Yuma and Shoot ‘Em Up, both of which I’m anxious to see.
