Eric, the 27 year old talent office assistant from New York, has been the secretive twist this season of Big Brother as he has been part of the biggest BB alliance by being teamed with us, America. While this little twist didn’t fall quite as flat as the “worst enemies” it hasn’t exactly been an earthquake through the game either. Week after week Eric has been tasked to complete the missions we decide upon and then for every five missions completed he earns $10,000, effectively $2K/task. I thought it might be proper to take a look back at these tasks as I’m sorry to say we may be nearing the end of our time with ol’ Eric.
Say what you will about Eric as a person (well just not what Amber said, hopefully), but this guy has been a trooper. He’s dutifully followed every task whether its hurt his game or even the one he cares about (Jessica). At this stage Eric has just hit another milestone rounding out a set of 5 for a grand total of 20 tasks completed. That gives Eric four full sets of $10,000 each for a grand total of $40,000. That’s not too shabby considering the second place player only gets $50,000. With just a week and a half left in the game I don’t think he’ll possibly have time to complete five more even if he stays to the bitter end since there are only 3 tasks per week.

Eric may have completed 20 tasks, but he’s missed the chance at another $10,000 by failing to complete 5 others tasks during the season. One of those tasks was terrible and he should have rejected it, another was completely bogus that he didn’t get credit, and a few others were out of his hands. The task I think he should have flat out walked away from was giving Jessica the silent treatment. I’m amazed that America picked that one for him considering how kind they’ve been on other tasks. There was just no way he was going to be able to get through that one and it just upset Jessica, his biggest ally in the house. The task where he didn’t get credit was for sleep walking into Joe’s bed. We watched him spend minutes trying to lay around his feet and squirm his way onto a small bed that already had two people in it. Considering it was enough to wake Joe up and question Eric later seems evidence enough that he was successful. The next failed task was when Eric had to flatter Dick to secure his safety. I completely missed this one, but since Dick voted against Eric he can’t get credit here and that seems fair. The last two failed tasks were over America’s desire to be rid of Kail as two weeks in a row we voted to have Eric get her evicted and two weeks in a row it didn’t happen. Those are tough as that early on in the game (Weeks 3 & 4) you have to influence a heck of a lot of people to get someone evicted. Overall, most of his failures are forgivable in his game as America’s Player.
The big question that I’d like to ask Eric is: Knowing what you know now and given the chance to go back and start over, would you still want to be America’s Player? Personally, I think it might have been worth it. This is tough to analyze since the game could layout much different right now if Eric hadn’t been acting in our best interests rather than his. I think he’d have a hard time winning the game overall and second place could have even been difficult to secure. $40,000 isn’t too shabby and I think it may prove to have been the right choice for him. However, should Jessica get out of the game and learn that Eric was doing things like the silent treatment task and kissing task for money she may have a few strong feelings. Since we’ve seen how much Eric likes Jessica that alone may be enough to make him wish he hadn’t potentially tainted their relationship, should it last outside the house.
Tonight we’ll find out if Eric can survive the double eviction or if he’ll be following his lady friend right out the door. I’m rather nervous for him as his JEDD alliance has completely splintered, but that’s no big surprise. Check back tonight for our recap and all the details along with discussion. Is it true that Eric can’t win HOH? because of being america’s player?

I hadn’t heard that one, but I would guess that’s not true. He was able to win the PoV the other week. I think the issue is Eric just isn’t the strongest HoH competitors, unfortunately.

if eric has already earned $40,000, does he also earn a sum of money for being in the house? and would that make him getting more money than the #2 spot?

That’s a great point, I forgot about the weekly money. With that considered it’d be close. I believe they earn $750/wk as a stipend (Jen said that number as she complained about going to sequester). So after even a full 11 weeks of the show at $750/wk that’d be $8250 + $40,000 for America’s Player tasks for a total of $48,250 putting him just a touch behind 2nd place. So yeah, practically he’ll earn the same as 2nd place, but just a very shy touch behind. Great catch Mary!
