Following an intense 7.5 hour endurance competition (HoH recap & pictures here) that sent Daniele to the ground crying, Dick cursing his head off at BB, and Zach too cold to use his hands by the time it was done, a winner was crowned for the first segment of this three parter. I was amazed by how long Dick ended up lasting before giving in and letting his key swing free from his grasp. Every hour he looked worse and worse, yet he kept hold on. Zach, on the other hand, looked like a statue and at least appeared unphased by the harsh climate produced by BB for the competition. Regardless of who won I think both of those guys did a heck of a lot better than I would have done in those conditions.
With Zach as the winner of the first round that sends the father and daughter duo to a face off in the second round. The winner of this round will rejoin Zach in the third and final round on Thursday night. The second round should take place later today and hopefully we’ll get to watch it on the live feeds. In past seasons the second round has been another physical contest though not the same endurance type as last night.

This situation should prove a difficult one for the Donatos. Daniele said she’s never thrown a competition and isn’t ready to start tonight. I’m also doubting if Dick would be willing to defeat his own daughter in a duel. That could be a bad thing if we look at all the possibilities. Dick and Daniele have both won 2 HoH competitions, so they’re a force to be feared, but since the 3rd round is a mental one vs. a physical one I think Dick has the best chance to defeat Zach. We just saw Daniele lose out to Zach, though it was the slimmest of margins (58 vs. 59), so we know Zach has a slightly higher ground there. I also think Dick’s intimidating stance could also be an intangible asset in this last challenge. Although Dick’s intimidation tactics last night had no result despite a straight hour+ of verbal abuse on Zach.
Since we’ve witnessed a full season of strategic thinking from the Donatos I’m confident they’re going to plan out this second round carefully. It’d be funny to watch both of them play together or one of them just sit down and watch the other play it out. Either way I’m looking forward to seeing what direction they decide to go with to determine the players in the third round. Who do you think would be the best Donato to face off against Zach?
I’m honestly torn on who I want to win this whole thing. The Donatos have dominated the game this season and have earned their current positions. Zach didn’t really enter the game competitively until the last few weeks, though “under the radar” can be a very respectable method to win. Both Zach’s recent emergence and the Donatos’ consistent performances have impressed me leaving me with an interest in seeing both sides succeed. I’m just glad that I don’t feel like we’ve got another Alison & Jun or Maggie & Ivette situation on our hands, though some may disagree.
I’ll keep an eye on the live feeds this afternoon/evening and post updates on the second round of this final HoH competition. Woohoo! Very exciting stuff.
Update: Dick is back from his round in the competition against Daniele. He told her not to worry, that she’ll do great against him [Zach] because the third round wouldn’t involve running. Dick seems to be attributing Zach’s recent surge in success to jogging. It sounds like Dick believes he lost it to Daniele, putting her in the hot seat against Zach tomorrow night. I don’t think we’ll know for sure until they [BB] reveal the results to the HGs.
Update (9/13): Turns out Dick beat Daniele in the second round of the HoH competition. That puts us with Zach and Dick facing off in the final round of the HoH competition. I think Daniele would do better, but we’ll see.

I want Daniele to win, b/c she is a true competitor. I don’t think Zack deserves to win, since all he has been doing is riding everyone’s coattails. Dani, however, has won 5 POV’s and 2 HOH’s and as such, had to really fight to stay in the house b/c everyone wanted the Donatos out. I think that it would be much more fair for Dani to win the 500,000 dollars. To me, she is the only one that has really earned it.

Dick spells it “Evel” as in “Evel Knievel”, Zach was trying to make a play on words.
I would certainly agree that the Donatos have faced a lot more attacks and scrutiny than Zach even came close to. Don’t forget Season 3 though when Danielle was beat out by Lisa who played much more of a Zach game. The fiercest competitor doesn’t always win the prize in BB.

I believe the america’s player ploy this year is a plot device to allow the producers to have some control over whom stays am who leaves; because from what is going around all the forums on this subject quite a lot more dislike Dick then like him. The only way that would translate into the AP chosing to save him would be if the tiny fraction that like him voted more then the huge amounts that do not likehim

I’m feeling pretty neutral at this point. I enjoy rooting for Zach from the “underdog” angle, but I’m definitely very impressed by the strength of the Donatos’ game. When the Donatos are doing their thing and winning stuff it’s fun to watch, but it wears on me when Daniele gets whiny and Dick gets so nasty. But I’m trying to get it based on the game rather than personal.

I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ve always kept in the back of my mind that the producers were pulling strings every season. I think Dick was more popular early on than he is now.

Yay for Zach! BB has manipulated the game in the Donatos favor since the beginning of the season. Examples: Jen gets a penalty nomination for eating, while Dick admits to cheating via coded letter from his son and BB does nothing. Jameka gets disqualified for the blue ball that mysteriously shows up in her chute during an HoH competition, while Dick lets go of his key twice during last night’s endurance competition (documented via live feeds) and once again, BB looks the other way. If they want to give the 500k to a Donato, why go through the pretense of making it look like a fair competition? Shame on you, CBS. You’ve proved that you’d resort to outright cheating for the sake of ratings.

To the donato haters..hate the game not the players…as for the D’s not being a typical perfect family, who is??And if you say you are you’re as nuts as Jen…They played this game and dick took the target all the time…I would do the same for my kids….no matter what tactics…If you don’t like it you should turn the TV off and spend time with your perfect families..try steering them clear of pervs like Zach and watch the game from the beginning not at the end so you miss Zach’s comments…Dick was not lying..and if the LNC gives the money to the panty muncher than so be it..erica slept with boogie all season and threw janelle under the bus yet boogie won….

The game has nothing to do with appearances,knowledge,social background, etc..It has to do with what motivates you..in this case we saw Mr Zach throw many comps because he made deals..that does not mean he did not sweat his choices but the D’s had been on opposite side of LNC since the Nick incident in which Eric cast “mysterious votes”..Are you following me??Eric lied and made money..what motivated him..It has nothing to do with personal anything, it is simply strategy and to the fittest comes the spoils.Spoils maybe in brains, looks, personality, faith..whatever it may be, it is what we all are..

yes i agree that ED comments were a bit above and beyond but he didn’t attack family members. i am still a little disturbed about the comment Jameka made about Ed mother being a Biotch. that was totally uncalled for. what he did-he did for his daughter. he would have played the game differently if she would were not in the house as would Eric not being AP. neither had the chance to play the game they wanted.

Yes I thought the ball cap was unfair and I also thought the key ropes and the water was not the same for dick like for zack..Dani could not have made it..Sounds more like the producers are mad that Eric was evicted..Eric is happy to be with Jess..He compromised her the most..As for Jameka, she and Amber, oh and Dustin all had potty mouths. I agree that Zach had an advantage because he happened to be wearing a hat during the rabbit challenge. But, as far as I know anybody could’ve worn a hat or anything else they wanted to wear.
