Hmm, not the best weekend for movies here. You’ve got 2 comedies that hardly look like comedies and you’ve got an action movie that’s gonna be a stinker, but you can bet I’ll still go see that last one anyways! I’m ticked off about Good Luck Chuck because I’d happily pay good money to go see Jessica Alba do whatever it is she does, but they had to go and throw in that awful Dane Cook piece of crap. He’s not funny. Why they tried once again to pair him up with a young, pretty face is beyond me after the bomb that was Employee of the Month. The only thing he’s ever done well was Mr. Brooks as that was because he wasn’t attempting a funny role. Then there’s Sydney White with yet another sad attempt at the harsh life of college living. It looks terrible, don’t bother. Then there’s the trilogy completer with Resident Evil Extinction. Now admittedly this one doesn’t look too great, but the first two didn’t try to hide it either, so I’m all in with this one.
Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, September 21 - 23, 2007.
Resident Evil: Extinction
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Oded Fehr
Director: Russell Mulcahy
Genre: Action / Horror / Sci-Fi / Thriller
Rated: Rated R for strong horror violence throughout and some nudity
Duration: 1hr 35mins
Plot: Led by the tough, sharp-minded Claire (Larter), survivors of the Raccoon City catastrophe travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to safety in Alaska. Their chances are improved when Alice (Jovovich) joins the caravan and their fight against the Umbrella Corporation.
My Take: There’s not a chance this will be good and there’s not a chance that I’ll miss it either. The first two have been guilty pleasures and the third one doesn’t look like it’ll let me down there either. Considering media has been banned from previewing Extinction that doesn’t bode well for its quality. Ah well, Zombies!!

Resident Evil: Extinction Movie Trailer:
Good Luck Chuck
Starring: Jessica Alba, Dane Cook
Director: Mark Helfrich
Genre: Comedy / Romance
Rated: Rated R for sequences of strong sexual content including crude dialogue, nudity, language and some drug use
Duration: 1hr 36mins
Plot: In order to keep the woman of his dreams from falling for another guy, Charlie Logan has to break the curse that has made him wildly popular with single women: Sleep with Charlie once, and the next man you meet will be your true love.
My Take: What the hell Alba? This looks terrible and I blame it entirely on Cook. The trailers/marketing have completely shifted gears from playing this up as a sex filled romp through the bedroom to a cutesy date movie. As much as I’d love to go see Alba I simply can’t support a Dane Cook movie. Let’s see if this bombs as much as his last try with Jessica Simpson. Also note, every poster for this movie has photo-shopped Alba and Cook together. Seriously. I’d like to hope they used CGI to do the movie as well, keeping her as far from him as possible.

Good Luck Chuck Movie Trailer:
Sydney White
Starring: Amanda Bynes, Sara Paxton, Matt Long
Director: Joe Nussbaum
Genre: “Comedy”
Rated: Rated PG-13 for some language, sexual humor and partying.
Duration: 1hr 30mins
Plot: A modern retelling of Snow White set against students in their freshman year of college in the greek system.
My Take: Do I really need to even bother here? You shouldn’t either, unless you’re in a coma, then you might enjoy this movie.
