Last night the ladies showed us what they could do. Tonight the men have their turn on the dance floor to entertain and impress the judges and us. I liked the fact that they gave a brief intro to each of the stars before they danced. This was very helpful for me because there were a couple of stars that I didn’t know, for example, I really had no idea who Cameron Mathison was. Like the ladies, the men will dance either the Foxtrot or the Cha Cha Cha. Len described the Foxtrot as the “Rolls Royce of the ballroom dances”, it is all about grace and elegance. Len’s description of the Cha Cha Cha was a, “fun cheeky dance with a flirty flavor.” The women did a fair job for the first performance, lets see if the men did the same.
Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Foxtrot
I thought Cameron looked pretty good out their. He seemed a little stiff and his smiles seemed forced. I’m sure it was just nerves and as the season goes on he will loosen up. That was the big problem Ian Ziering had last season. Cameron and Edyta received some very good feedback from the judges. They weren’t perfect but for a first outing they did well. Their score was about average. It certainly was enough to make them safe this week.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Floyd Mayweather & Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Awesome. Floyd had some moves. He is definitely going to be one of the stars to beat this season. Bruno wanted to change his name to September Storm. His advice, channel the force. Len got boo’d for saying this wasn’t the best. The judges agreed that it was a good start, that Floyd had alot of energy and potential as long as he worked on his finesse. Aparently I liked it more that the judges did though.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 6
Bruno Tonioli: 6
Total: 18
Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance: Foxtrot
Helio and Julianne looked really good. Julianne always looks like she is having so much fun out on the dance floor that you can’t help but like her performance no matter what. The judges loved it. Not one of them had anything negative to say. Julianne is on fire. If she and Helio keep this up we could be in for another repeat winner.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 25
Albert Reed & Anna Trebunskaya
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Because he is a model for some reason Albert seemed to feel he was an underdog. The crowd loved their performance and so did the judges. Albert and Anna had the best quotes from the judges all night. Len: “You gyrated, you rotated, you pulsated, it was like a stripper.” Bruno: “The crotch action was in warp drive.” Carrie Anne: “I’m at a lose for words.” The judges didn’t really show them that much love when they handed out their scores though.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Mark Cuban & Kym Johnson
Dance: Foxtrot
Mark is weird. The little dance he was doing while he was describing himself was really disturbing. Mark also just had his hip replaced 7 weeks before they began practicing. I always liked Kym so I was happy to see she was back this season again. I have to say though that once on the dance floor Mark did way better than I ever expected. It wasn’t a real energetic performance but they looked good and they seemed to be having fun. “The Bouncing Billionaire,” as Bruno described him, was more of a showman than the judges expected as well. His technique needed work but, Mark could hang in there for a while.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Wayne Newton & Cheryl Burkei
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
I think poor Cheryl got stuck this season. I thought Mark Cuban was going to be this season’s Jerry Springer. I was wrong. Wayne has some moves and alot of entertainment experience but he is no spring chicken. The judges were rather generous in my opinion. They agreed that Wayne is a great performer and acknowledged his age but, they also agreed that his footwork and hip action needs work in future weeks.

Helio & Julianne: 25
Cameron & Edyta: 21
