Dancing with the Stars

On yesterday’s DWTS Performance Show, we got to see a number of brilliant routines, and some that well, lets just say weren’t brilliant. If we take a quick peek at the Judges’ Leader board after last night, it is pretty easy to determine which was which.

Judges Leader Board
Helio & Julianne: 27
Sabrina & Mark: 26
Marie & Jonathon: 24
Mel & Maksim: 23
Albert & Anna: 21
Jennie & Derek: 21
Cameron & Edyta: 21
Floyd & Karina: 21
Jane & Tony: 21
Mark & Kym: 18
Wayne & Cheryl: 15

Sabrina & Mark and HeLlio & Julianne for the second week in a row provided stunning performances. Mel B & Maksim also did well for the second week in a row with their Quickstep. Marie & Jonathon really came back strong after last week. It looks like Marie has decided she is going to have to work for it. After these four couple we have five couples in the middle of the pack all of whom scored a 21 with the judges last night. These couples are going to have to start standing out soon. If one of the two trailing couples pulled a strong audience vote 21 will not be enough to keep you safe. There were two couples who stood out last night, but not for their brilliance. Mark & Kym’s Mambo just didn’t cut it. Mark may be working hard but he isn’t an athlete, he isn’t a entertainer, and frankly he isn’t exceptionally coordinated. He certainly can’t pull of a sleeveless shirt.

Wayne Newton, on the other hand, is a performer but he isn’t a dancer and his age is hurting his chances. Wayne just can’t move quick enough to compete with the younger stars. He and Cheryl scored an abominable 15 out of 30. Now, that being said, Wayne has a huge following of fans. I think his fan base could just save him for another week or two, even with a score of 15. That could put one of our middle of the pack couples in danger in the bottom two. Most likely Mark Cuban and Kym Johnson will be riding the bus (or limo as the case may be) home tonight. Especially as Mark has no fan base what so ever.

I feel bad for Kym and Cheryl they have both been really strong competitors in the past and have been on DWTS for multiple seasons. Both of them have gotten stuck with the short end of the stick where their stars are concerned. They are two of the pros I root for not because of the star they are paired with but because I know and like them from previous seasons. I would hate to see both of them eliminated so early in the season. I don’t expect to see either of them by mid-season.
