Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, Boogie Nights) has teamed up with Daniel Day Lewis, one of the most impressive actors, to big this adaptation to the big screen. Lewis stars as a “soulless” turn-of-the-century oil prospector who will stop at nothing to monopolize the region’s oil potential. The title seems to imply a little more violence than I’m expecting from this, though there should be plenty of cut throat throat cutting as the plot implies. After such a lull of silence from Anderson I’m looking forward to see what he’s offering up to audiences here.
