Tonight the our couples perform either the Tango or the Jive live for your pleasure and your votes.
Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas
Dance: Jive
Sabrina & Mark came out strong again, proving they are one of the teo couples to beat. Their performance was fun and energetic. All of the judges loved it. Len thought it was their best performance so far. Bruno described it like a “seismic event.”
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27
Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Tango
I thought they did a good job dancing but I hated the music and I don’t think they really sold it. The tango is the dance of love and it should very much be a love hate relationship. Their performance was looked like something from a Broadway show. Carrie Ann thought it was a little too G rated even though technically it was good. Both Len and Carrie Ann liked his posture but again Len thought it wasn’t passionate enough and was too energetic, didn’t have enough slow movement in it. Bruno totally loved it.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 23
Mark Cuban & Kym Johnson
Dance: Jive
In practice this week Mark hurt his hip again but it was difficult to tell how badly it affected him. Their routine was fun. mark always looks like he’s enjoying what he’s doing. His facial expressions are usually the best part of the routine. From the waist down though he seemed a little stiff and his footwork didn’t seem to flow smoothly. Bruno thought mark had improved his control but needed to be lighter on his feet. Carrie Ann thought he seemed awkward. She also told him not to dance with his face. Len thought he was entertaining but thought his timing was off in a few spots.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 20
Jennie Garth & Derek Hough
Dance: Tango
After their fall last week they wanted to come back and prove themselves to the audience and themselves. This was much more of a traditional tango than Cameron & Edyta’s. They did a very nice job and received a standing ovation from the studio audience. Len liked it. Carrie Ann thought it was very well done. Bruno thought it was the come back of the season.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 26 (Looks like Bruno was right, good for Jennie & Derek)
Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovsky
Dance: Jive
Mel’s footwork seemed off and when compared with Maksim who dancing right next to her. And Maksim could have used a shirt. The judges thought she was fantastic. Len actually thought it was her best performance yet. They received the same score as Sabrina & Mark but I didn’t think their was any comparison. Sabrina & Mark were way better.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27
Wayne Newton & Cheryl Burkei
Dance: Tango
To start, Wayne was dressed like a pimp. Wayne’s outfit was not the only thing awful about this performance. He looked like an old man dancing with his granddaughter at a wedding. All of the judges thought he stayed in character but the performance was awkward at best and Cheryl was leading for most of the routine.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 6
Bruno Tonioli: 6
Total: 18 (Well it was better than last week)
Floyd Mayweather & Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Jive
I thought this was Floyd’s best performance yet. Floyd did a great job, he was in character, the performance was entertaining, and looked clean. The little moves he did at the beginning with his jump rope was fun. Len and Carrie Ann liked the perforance but thought he needed more focus on the details like the way he points his feet.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21 (This score might not cut it this week)
Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Tango
I was concerned for how Jane would do tonight after her mother passed away last week. She dedicated this weeks tango to her mother. I was hopefully that everyone would vote for her no matter how she did. I didn’t need to worry Jane’s performance was spectacular. Elegant and poised as always. Bruno thought it was fantastic. Len thought it could have been on pay-per-view. Carrie Ann was in tears. She thought it was one of the most beautiful dances she has ever seen. Their performance was also far superior to Mel and Maksim’s.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27
Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance: Jive
Wow. Awesome. This was the most energetic jive of the night. Even thought the tango is supposed to be the sexy, passionate dance they made the jive look incredibly sexy. The judges thought Helio’s exuberance was really good but had a little sloppiness into the technical portion of their routine as a result. As I was saying in out preview of tonight’s performance, I’m concerned that Helio and Julianne set everyone’s expectations so high that they could have trouble living up to those expectations this early in the season.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24 (That’s their lowest score yet.)
Marie Osmond & Jonathon Roberts
Dance: Tango
Great performance. The characters they played in this routine were so much fun.
The judges agreed that this routine was very good. Marie managed to make the routine campy without crossing the line into slapstick.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 26

Thought this article was great. I feel like the writer and I really did watch the same show, which is often not the case. Agree Cameron’s downfall was the music…it just didn’t work for the Tango. Agree the judges didn’t give Helio the score he should have gotten based on his performance and not based on some “expectation” of theirs. Having watched all DWTS shows, it was very predictable they were going to over gush on Mel B and undermine Helio. And that’s entertainment!! LOL
