Dancing with the Stars

There some very surprising scores following last night’s performance show. Here was the Judges Leader Board at the end of last night’s show:

Judges Leader Board
Sabrina & Mark: 27
Mel & Maksim: 27
Jane & Tony: 27
Jennie & Derek: 26
Marie & Jonathon: 26
Helio & Julianne: 24
Cameron & Edyta: 23
Floyd & Karina: 21
Mark & Kym: 20 (Hey! First time they have been out of the teens!)
Wayne & Cheryl: 18

As you can there is a much wider spread of scores among the couples this time. Last week there were a few stand out couples, a few bottom of the barrel couples and then everyone else was grouped in the middle. The biggest surprise of the night though was the Helio & Julianne dropped from the top spot to below half way on the board. I really don’t think they did such a bad job last night. I think their problem is that they have set the judges expectations so high with their previous performances. Even though I thought they did fine last night (and better than some of the couples who scored higher than they did) that when compared to their previous routines the judges felt like they had to give them lower scores. I seriously doubt that Helio & Julianne are in a any danger though. This was just a little wake up call to them from the judges. I’m sure they will come back strong next week.

For the third week in a row Sabrina & Mark have come out with a stellar performance. They deserve to be at the top of the pile. Jane & Tony’s routine was also superb, especially considering the death of Jane’s mother last week. I really didn’t think that Mel & Maksim’s routine earned them a top spot though. I didn’t think it was nearly as clean or entertaining as either Sabrina & Mark’s or Jane & Tony’s. I was glad to see Jennie & Derek come back strong after last week’s fall. I don’t think they are serious contenders to win this season but, they deserve to be around for a long while yet. Likewise, I doubt Marie & Jonathon can win but Marie is so much fun to watch perform that I ‘m sure she will be in the competition for many weeks to come.

It was no surprise that Mark & Kym and Wayne & Cheryl are at the bottom again. Wayne just can’t dance. I know he has a huge fan following but the man needs to go home. I actually feel a little embarrassed for the guy. Mark Cuban just isn’t a strong enough performer to stay in the competition for much longer. The only thing that saved him last week and is likely to save him this week is the audience vote. I believe he and Wayne could squeak by for another week with the audience support but not for much longer. If Mark and Wayne get the audience vote again this week that could spell bad news for Floyd & Karina and Cameron & Edyta. As we saw last week when Albert and Anna went home, mediocre scores are not enough to ensure you’re safety. If I was Floyd & Karina or Cameron & Edyta I would definitely be worried tonight.

Don’t forget to set up your Tivo’s for tonight’s show. Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) and her father, DWTS veteran, Billy Ray Cyrus will be perform together live! I know my kids are excited. Hannah Montana concert ids the hottest ticket in the U.S. right now. DWTS scored by getting them. On the other hand the Cyrus work for Disney so its no surprise they showed up on an ABC program. In any case I’m sure DWTS will get a major ratings boost from their performance this week.
