Weekend Movie Preview logo

Audio Video: Home Theater Guide

After weeks (maybe even months) of disappointing movies it looks like we’re nearing enough to the end of the year to start getting the really good movies. This weekend there are five full wide releases and even a few limited ones if you’re lucky (Lars and the Real Girl) with a range of genres: historical, courtroom drama, cops & robbers, romantic-dramedy, and even a true sports story. With all these choices which one will you choose? Share your picks. I’m sorry there won’t be enough time to see all of ‘em.

Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, October 12 - 14, 2007.

We Own the Night

We Own The Night
Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall, Eva Mendes
Director: James Gray
Genre: Drama and Crime/Gangster
Rated: R for strong violence, drug material, language, sexual content, and brief nudity.
Duration: 1hr 57mins
Plot: Though nightclub owner Bobby (Phoenix) and his police officer brother Joseph (Wahlberg) haven taken decidedly different paths in life, a near-fatal incident causes them to unite in a deadly confrontation with the mobsters who run Bobby’s club.
My Take: James Gray put out another movie a few years back with the same male leads (Phoenix & Wahlberg) with a very similar story, but just their roles reversed. Never heard of it? Yeah, no one else did either. Will this do better? Well, it at least looks good, and by “it” I mean Mendes.
