No Country For Old Men

After yesterday’s article discussing how the Coen brothers landed the wrong J. Brolin for their upcoming movie, No Country For Old Men, I thought it’d be appropriate to share a few more details on why I still think this looks to be a great film. The Coen brothers have done so much good that despite the less than stellar performance with Lady Killers I’m hoping this film will return them to their Fargo and Big Lebowski days. So far the Rotten Tomato meter has stayed on the high side and the reviews seem pretty good. We already know Jones can handle the “tracking a wanted man” role (The Fugitive) and Brolin’s recent stint in Planet Terror shows he can handle the action thriller decently. Bardem is more of an import actor for this film so I’m not familiar with him, but he manages to still creep me out in the trailer (see below). If you’ve enjoyed movies from the Coens before and don’t mind the roughness here then I’d keep No Country For Old Men on your list.

The Coens’ article about hiring the wrong Brolin was a joke - totally tongue-in-cheek. Josh has been underrated his entire career and has totally owned 2007.

Wait until you see him in NO COUNTRY and AMERICAN GANGSTER. Scorsese and Spielberg have both taken notice…
