Hey, time for another exciting night of DWTS performances. With the loss of Mark & Kym last week I would say all of the dead wood has been trimmed. From here on out, the competition is going to be very tough. Usually each week the couple perform one of two dances but tonight, every couple performed a different dance. In addition to their normal routines, tonight the couples also participated in the first group dance. Lets see how they did.
Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas
Dance: Foxtrot
As usual Sabrina & Mark were dead on. There dancing was energetic, exacting, and clean. I did not enjoy their song selection though. I think they did a great job with it Len thought it was good, but it was too aggressive for a Foxtrot. Bruno actually agreed with Len for once. Carrie Ann was the one dissenter. She thought Len was way too hard on them. Now Sabrina did have a problem with her footing at the end of the routine so no matter what they weren’t going to have a perfect score.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 25 (Yikes that was one of their worst scores this season; Make sure you vote for them because this pair deserves another shot!)
Jennie Garth & Derek Hough
Dance: Mambo
Very cool. Jennie & Derek did an awesome job this week. Jennie definitely had enough puff to make it through tonight. This routine was fun and full of energy not to mention sexy. The one problem I have with it though is that the sexiness is sometimes hard to buy because she looks like she’s out oon the dance floor with the 15 year old kid who mows her lawn instead of a steamy leading man. Bruno thought it was dirty… and fantastic. Carrie Ann thought it looked like they were having fun and made audience have fun too. Len said to progress they had to come out with an exceptional performance and they did.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27
Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Jive
Tonight Jane & Tony are the couple who have something to prove, being the surviving couple from last weeks bottom two. But I’m not sure that they did. The jive was not a good choice for Jane. Her strength has always been grace and elegance and the jive doesn’t give her a chance to show these strengths. For the first time this season Jane actually looked a little awkward. Carrie Ann really enjoyed it, but she agreed with me and said it wasn’t really a good routine for her. Len also agreed. He didn’t think it was down and dirty on the balls of her feet. Bruno thought she looked uncomfortable. He didn’t think it was their best dance.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 22 (Ooh, not good.)
Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Samba
Ok, Cameron actually impressed me this week with his bit of acrobatics this week at the beginning of the routine. He slid across the floor and then on his back he lept to his feet without using his hands. Their routine was sexy and quick. It looked great until the little lift thing at the end which seemed to be out of place and out of time with the music. Len only thought it was good in parts but he didn’t think they captured the spirit of the samba. Bruno said he never saw Pocahontas and Captain Smith do the samba before. He thought they went back and forth between the samba and some kind of tribal dance. Carrie Ann said she got it and liked it.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 25
Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovsky
Dance: Rumba
I think Mel & Maks did it again this week. While I disliked their song selection again, they gave us the best performances of the night. Bruno called it a cliff hanger… excellent. Carrie Ann said that was the Rumba she was waiting to see all season. Len said it was, “perfected, inspected, dissected, and as far as I’m concerned it won’t be rejected.” (I wonder how long he’s been waiting to whip that out.)
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 30
Marie Osmond & Jonathon Roberts
Dance: Paso Doble
I don’t know. I liked it but, I didn’t think it was their best performance. It was just OK. Carrie Ann said she thought it was a little too safe, she wasn’t sure that Marie was 100% beck yet. Len liked the beginning and the end but the middle was only mediocre. Bruno said she started as Catherine Zeta Jones and ended as Catherine Zeta Cranky (I’m not really sure what that means though).
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 23
Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
It was great but mostly due to Julianne. Helio is really not a Latin sex pot. He is actually kind of awkward and goofy. Helio is lucky in that a significant portion of the audience (namely the male portion) will vote for these two just to keep watching Julianne. Len loved it. Bruno said they were, “Rebranded, repackaged, and regenerated, your back in the race!” Carrie Ann thought his latin booty was workin’ overtime.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 28
Judges Leader Board
Mel & Maksim: 30
Helio & Julianne: 28
Jennie & Derek: 27
Sabrina & Mark: 25
Cameron & Edyta: 25
Marie & Jonathon: 23
Jane & Tony: 22
The group routine was a Rock & Roll routine choreographed by Christian Perry. It was meant to be a rumble between the greasers and the jocks. Michael Jackson’s Beat It meets Grease! It turned out to be pretty cool although I still liked last season’s swing better. Once again Cameron impressed me with his acrobatics, doing a flip. Sabrina also flipped Mark over her shoulders instead of the other way around. I like the way Julianne flipped around Helio’s shoulders. Jane seemed really uncomfortable again and Marie & Jonathon’s cartwheel was a little lackluster. The judges loved it all of course. Now we’ll find out if the audience felt the same way.

Dancing With The Stars 5 Week 6 Results | Wild Bluff Media : Entertainment Examined
October 30th, 2007 at 10:05 pm[...] The performances last night left several of our couples in serious trouble tonight. Specifically, I am talking about Jane & Tony, Marie & Jonathon, and Cameron & Edyta. Now, Sabrina & Mark had the same score as Cameron & Edyta but after their performances the first five weeks I really didn’t think these two were in trouble. This morning I predicted that Jane & Tony would be the couple going home. I think Jane may have suspected the same thing. She missed tonight’s results show due to a “suspected case of food poisoning”. It could just be that she didn’t want to face the red light again and the final dance. Here is how the Judges Leader Board looked at the end of last night: [...]
