Dancing with the Stars

Tonight we pick right back up in the race to crown a new dancing champ and as we learned last week anything can happen along the way. Could this be another shocker week? Will another top pick get bumped? Well that all depends on you, now doesn’t it? Let’s see how they do as each couple will be performing twice (twice means more commercial time for ABC!).

Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance: Tango
Len liked their drive and energy but felt their form was poor. Bruno likened them to lightning but reminded them to pay more attention to details. Carrie Ann jumped to the far end and said it was a nice twist on the Tango despite a few balance issues.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 25

Marie Osmond & Jonathon Roberts
Dance: Quickstep
Bruno gives them a standing salute and noted that when Marie gets it right, she gets it right. Carrie Ann thought it was wonderful and was a production quality performance. Len reminded us that entertainment flows through her veins and tonight’s performance was her best so far.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 28

Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovsky
Dance: Foxtrot
Carrie Ann didn’t think they lived up to last week’s perfect performance as they appeared out of sync. Len said every time he expected a heel he was getting a toe, so the footwork was out. Bruno thought they performed very well, but echoed Len’s sentiments on the footwork needing more attention.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24
This was their lowest score since the second week.

Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Quickstep
Len tells Jane she has grace and posture, but the lack of body contact and poor footwork pulled down the performance. Bruno was distracted by her dress and reminds her she needs to work harder on the little details. Carrie Ann wants Jane to wow the audience by bringing more excitement to the routines.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24

Jennie Garth & Derek Hough
Dance: Viennese waltz
Bruno says that when she gets it right she is great, but needs to maintain that for the entire dance. Carrie Ann felt it was a backslide from last week (Garth looks near tears) and wants her to maintain strength in her midsection more. Len felt the Viennese was missing from this waltz which brought a protest from Bruno as well as Derek in an attempt to explain that he had performed an American Viennese waltz.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 25

Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Quickstep
Carrie Ann felt it was too wired, too much energy which put them out of sync. Len wanted him to calm down a bit as he didn’t like the beginning or the middle. Bruno pointed out Cameron missed a lot of steps, likely from his frantic dancing.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24

Ballroom Round: Judges Leader Board
Marie & Jonathon: 28
Helio & Julianne: 25
Jennie & Derek: 25
Mel & Maksim:24
Cameron & Edyta: 24
Jane & Tony: 24

Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance: Samba
Bruno is thrilled with their performance. Carrie Ann agrees with Bruno and says Helio looks at complete ease when performing the Samba. Len felt it was perfect.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27

Marie Osmond & Jonathon Roberts
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Carrie Ann felt she toned the performance perfectly, but was hoping for more content from the dance. Len thought it was a good cha cha cha, but wasn’t great. Bruno feels she peaked earlier on, which prompts a response from Marie that women in their 40s don’t peak in their 40s.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24

Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovsky
Dance: Paso Doble
Len felt they had everything in it: the passion, the expression, everything. Bruno felt it was an adrenaline charged performance that left his jaw on the desk. Carrie Ann says she kicked some “serious booty”.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 30

Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Bruno calls Jane a golden acorn with a well played cha cha cha and that she did very well. Carrie Ann also feels she did very, very well though she’d like to see a little more from here. Len wants her to get out there and put off more fireworks on the dance floor.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 26

Jennie Garth & Derek Hough
Dance: Rhumba
Carrie Ann felt they came back from the weaker, earlier performance. Len feels the only person that thinks Jennie isn’t a great dancer is Jennie. Bruno found it incredibly satisfying and was their best dancing performance yet.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 28

Cameron Mathison & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Jive
Len is impressed how Cameron pulled off the Jive as such a tall guy. Bruno thought there were more kicks than a rodeo and they nailed it. Carrie Ann likes how well Cameron has developed into a real dancer over the season.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27

Overall Judges Leader Board
Mel & Maksim: 54
Jennie & Derek: 53
Helio & Julianne: 52
Marie & Jonathon: 52
Cameron & Edyta: 51
Jane & Tony: 50

  2. Dancing With The Stars 5 Week 7 Results Preview | Wild Bluff Media : Entertainment Examined

[...] Last night on DWTS each couple performed two dances which was clearly a big stresser for several of the stars. Fortunately for them everyone came out rather unscathed as no one passed out, got food poisoning, or stood too close to Bruno when he was waving his arms. With two rounds of dancing the couples had a chance to make up for weak performances and balance out their score. Everyone came out very close with a range of just four points between the highest rank dance pair (Mel & Maksim) and the lowest ranked pair (Jane & Tony). [...]

  3. Dancing With The Stars 5 Week 7 Results | Wild Bluff Media : Entertainment Examined

[...] Last night was pretty rough on our dancers. The dancers each performed two routines and everyone had at least one lack luster performance. Mal & Maks did pull the perfect thirty again last night on their second performance. So it was no surprise tonight when they received the Judges Encore Performance. At the end of last night’s show a mere 4 points separated the first couple from the last. As a result tonight’s big loser was all the result of the audience votes. Here’s how the Judges rated the couples last night: [...]
