Dancing with the Stars

It’s the semi finals. One of these four couples are going home, the other three are off to next week’s finale. Tonight, each of our couples will perform twice, first in the ballroom round and then in the Latin round. I’m sure all of the stars came prepared tonight. This is the week you don’t want to go home.

Marie Osmond & Jonathon Roberts
Dance: Quickstep
Damn near perfect. That was awesome. Len said it was perfect and Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed, almost. Bruno compared her to several of the classic movie stars. Carrie Ann said she didn’t miss a step. Marie was breathing so hard I was afraid she was going to pass out again.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 9 (Boo!)
Total: 29

Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovsky
Dance: Viennese Waltz
There waltz was good. I thought the beginning was a little rocky. Mel just isn’t as graceful as some of the others. I much prefer her in the quicker dances. The judges didn’t agree with me. Carrie Ann had chills. Bruno called it the Ferrari of Viennese Waltz. And Len, well Len called it absolutely fabulous. I did agree with the judges opinion of their music, Queen is always good.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10 (Boo!)
Total: 27

Jennie Garth & Derek Hough
Dance: Tango
Hmmm. I really wanted to like it. I really didn’t like the music. Jennie and Derek both seemed like they were about to smile. I prefer the Tango’s which tell a story which this one didn’t. Carrie Ann thought it was great but that they didn’t have chemistry. Len disagreed, he said it was full of passion. Bruno also loved it. He called her the red menace.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 28

Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance: Foxtrot
I enjoyed watching this performance more than any of the other ones. It was classic and elegant yet whimsical at the same time. The judges and I were in agreement this time. Bruno said if they don’t make the final he is going to eat his book. Carrie Ann called Helio a lucky leprechaun (I think that was a compliment).
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10 (Yes!)
Total: 30

First Round: Judge’s Leader Board
Mel & Maksim: 30
Helio & Julianne: 30
Marie & Jonathon: 29
Jennie & Derek: 28

Marie Osmond & Jonathon Roberts
Dance: Mambo
That was cute. I thought there was a few too many tricks in it. Bruno even called it mad-capped. All of the judges liked it. they agreed that it was fun and entertaining but, they pointed out that Marie missed a few steps during the performance. With the scores so close that could be really bad for Marie & Jonathon.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27

Melanie Brown & Maksim Chmerkovsky
Dance: Paso Doble
Wow, that was really good. They are going to be tough to beat. Once again great musical selection. Ballroom dancing to the Rolling Stones, who woulda’ thought? The judges thought it was perfect. Powerful, dynamic, fantastic, precise, were just a few of the words they used to describe this performance. As Bruno said, Mel B, “Satisfaction Guaranteed!”
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 30

Jennie Garth & Derek Hough
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
I thought this was a much better performance than their first one tonight. Jennie is better when she can actually let her emotions show while she id performing. This was a fun, exciting performance. Len thought she was fantastic. Bruno said “Yummy Jennie, you’ve got it!” Carrie Ann said, “Work it out!”
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 30

Helio Castroneves & Julianne Hough
Dance:
Ok, I hated the music but I loved the routine. When it started, I rolled my eyes. I expected it to be really hokey but I was wrong. This performance was hot. Bruno called it, “Eye-popping… and incredible ride!” Len described them as the couple of the night. Carrie Ann agreed, she thought it was incredible.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 30

Overall Judge’s Leader Board
Mel & Maksim: 60
Helio & Julianne: 60
Jennie & Derek: 58
Marie & Jonathon: 56
