Fandango - Movie Tickets Online

The weekend movies arrive early this week with Thanksgiving. Lucky us, right? Let’s see. Here are all your movie details & trailers for this weekend, November 21 - 25, 2007:

Hitman

Hitman
Starring: Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott
Director: Xavier Gens
Genre: Action / Crime / Thriller
Rated: R
Duration: 1hr 40mins
Plot: A gun-for-hire known only as Agent 47 (Olyphant) is employed by a group known as “The Agency” to kill targets for cash. Agent 47 is suddenly ensnared in a political conspiracy, which finds him pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Eastern Europe.
My Take: The boring, flat performances of Timothy Olyphant should be perfect for this cold, emotionless character. Will this be another failed video game to big screen adaptation? I’m hoping not.

The Mist

The Mist
Starring: Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Laurie Holden
Director: Frank Darabont
Genre: Horror/Suspense
Rated: R for violence, terror and gore, and language.
Duration: 2hrs 7mins
Plot: Following a violent thunderstorm, artist David Drayton and a small town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the ‘The Arrowhead Project’ conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group’s overall chances for survival. Retreating to a local supermarket, Drayton and the survivors must face-off against each other before taking a united stand against an enemy they cannot even see!
My Take: I love me some Stephen King and with his last big screen adaptation being surprisingly good I’m hoping this one will too.

Enchanted

Enchanted
Starring: Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden
Director: Kevin Lima
Genre: Comedy, Kids/Family
Rated: PG for some scary images and mild innuendo
Duration: 1hr 48mins
Plot: When she falls in love with a prince, a peasant girl (Adams) is banished from her animated kingdom by the evil queen (Sarandon). She winds up in the very real New York City, where she falls in love with someone else, though her prince — and the queen — are heading her way.
My Take: Enchanted isn’t for me, but it sounds clever. I did enjoy the animated/live integration of Roger Rabbit back in the day, and while this might not be exactly the same it could come close.

This Christmas

This Christmas
Starring: Regina King, Columbus Short, Nia Long
Director: Preston A. Whitmore II
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Holiday
Rated: PG-13
Duration: 1hr 57mins
Plot: A Christmastime drama centered around the Whitfield family’s first holiday together in four years.
My Take: What? No Tyler Perry?

August Rush

August Rush
Starring: Freddie Highmore, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Director: Kirsten Sheridan
Genre: Comedy, Drama and Musical/Performing Arts
Rated: PG for some thematic elements, mild violence and language.
Duration: 1hr 53mins
Plot: A young musical genius (Highmore) is aided by a mysterious stranger (Williams) in his effort to find the parents from whom he was separated at birth.
My Take: Oh good gravy, this looks rather dumb. If you were a musical prodigy separated from your parents and then used that talent to reunite then I apologize for offending you. Otherwise, dumb. Maybe this is why Meyers is drinking these days.
