Dancing with the Stars may have ended this week (congratulations to the winners) but the fun doesn’t have to stop there. In what seems to be as reliable as Bruno shouting bizarre analogies everyone’s favorite cheerful blond dancer has been yet again rumored to be linked to her dancing partner. Following the previous year’s season there were tons of rumors that Julianne Hough and Apolo Ohno were an item, especially after Hough broke off her engagement with Zach Wilson in May. This year is no different as she’s once again being put in the crosshairs over a potential relationship with Helio Castroneves.

The morning after winning DWTS Helio joined The View and there he falsely confirmed that he was still with his fiancee, Aliette Vazquez. That seemed like a pretty strange decision for him to make, but at nearly the same time another story broke that he had actually split from Vazquez. Since Helio just won DWTS with his dancing partner Hough and was now split from his fiancee the inevitable story followed that he and Hough were an item. Not so, says Hough to People:

“Oh my gosh! No!” Hough told PEOPLE Thursday. “I love Helio like he is my brother. We are the best of friends.”

‘Like a brother.’ Yikes, not a guy’s favorite phrase, unless of course, you actually are someone’s brother! Jennie Garth resonated those same sentiments in an interview with Inside Edition as she informs us the split “happened a long time ago. It was even something that started before the show premiered… When Julianne Hough dances, she can have chemistry with a broomstick.” Ahhh! So many jokes, so inappropriate, must resist. Okay, all better.

I’m impressed with how long Helio managed to keep that story underwraps, but it’s strange how it immediately broke the day after winning the show. Could it have been an intentional leak by ABC to squeeze a little more blood from this season of DWTS? It didn’t sound like Helio was saying anything otherwise considering his appearance on The View.
