Terminator

We’ve known for awhile now that Terminator 4 would be making its way to theaters even without Arnold. Then just a few weeks ago there was the very sad news that McG (What? Is he a new meal at McDonald’s?) would take the helm and direct my beloved science fiction series. Now there’s the very surprising news that Christian Bale will step in to take over as John Connor, the savior and leader of mankind after Judgment Day.

What’s surprising to me is that Bale has been making such strong choices in recent years but as much as I think he kicks ass in his roles and as I really, really want a strong Terminator movie I can’t help but think this wasn’t a smart move. The third in the series was railed pretty hard and even as a loyal fan I can only defend it but so much. Now we’re looking at our second Terminator installment without James Cameron and the first without Arnold, so how good can this really be? We already know that McG will make a mess of it second to only what Michael Bay or Uwe Boll could do. Considering all the delays that are possible with the ongoing WGA strike I’m hoping there will be plenty of time for all to reconsider. Should McG’s involvement go the way of the dinosaur I’d be more inclined to take interest, otherwise I’ll remain concerned.
