The scripted series on NBC are quickly disappearing this season. Heroes just wrapped up yesterday, The Office has been done for weeks, and Bionic Woman is in danger of getting dropped as it was already teetering on the brink of destruction. So what’s NBC’s plan to deal with the WGA strike? You guessed it, reality TV mania! The suits over at NBC are planning to add a full three hours of unscripted television starting early this January.
First up is the rebirth of Gladiators starting on January 6th with Hulk Hogan stepping in as the host. The next two additions are new seasons of the same ol’ with a return of 1 vs. 100 with Bob Saget on January 4th and The Apprentice Celebrity Edition which starts January 3rd.
So what do you think of all this reality TV coming at us? NBC certainly isn’t the only guilty party as CBS announced the early return of its usual summer time special Big Brother with Big Brother 9 starting Tuesday, February 12th. ABC is launching a Dancing with the Stars spin-off “Dance Wars” to fill the gap in between seasons of DWTS. I wouldn’t be surprised to see another season of The Bachelor starting up sometime too. So what other reality shows would you vote to see come back early?
