Okay, time for more WGA Strike talk. Now in its second month the WGA Strike is affecting more than just the writers as the supporting crews on many of the shows put on hiatus are starting to lose their jobs. The most highlighted shows being affected are the late night talk shows where folks like David Letterman and Conan O’Brien have agreed to pay their staff out of their own pockets at least through the end of the year. But what about Jay Leno? Well after reportedly holding a big conference with his show’s crew about how they shouldn’t freak out, that their jobs were safe, the whole lot of them were suddenly laid off last week. So Jay stepped in, followed suit, and covered his workers that helped make him rich, right? Nope, not in the least. Of course that didn’t go over very well with anyone and so Leno has agreed to pay for one week’s salary for those on his show that just lost their jobs. One week. Want to guess how much Leno makes in a year to stand up there on stage in front of the cameras some of these guys run? $27 million. That’s over $2 million a month, which he’s probably still getting paid for right now, and he’s only ponying up 1 week’s pay only after getting hammered over it. Maybe Carson Daly can have Leno on as a guest. This strike has been quite the chance to see who bubbles to the top here.
