American Idol returns tonight with another round of auditions. This time, Randy, Paula, and Simon are in San Diego to see what kind of talent and terrors the west coast has to offer. Considering the number of crazies that showed up in Texas last week I can only imagine what we might get tonight in Southern California! I’m still trying to burn the image of the fat guy in the Princess Leia bikini from my memory (That which has been seen cannot be unseen). On the other hand I think we also have a shot at getting some significant talent as well. Philadelphia and Dallas each had more than 20 singers sent on to Hollywood. I would hope that Southern California would do at least as well. Guess we’ll have to wait until tonight to find out.
Anyone wondering how many semi-pros we’ll see scattered in the auditions tonight? Considering all of those that got in last week I think we’ll have plenty more follow up stories where we’ll discover the Idol hopeful has already released a record or two. I thought there used to be an amateur only restriction, but I guess that’s crazy talk. I’m all for hearing someone really good whether or not they were truly undiscovered, but I guess there will just something interesting about the discovery process as well. Apparently American Idol must feel at least somewhat the same way as these disclosures are coming from them. Ah well, sing on. Check back afterwards and we’ll see how well San Diego held up and while you’re waiting for the show sign up to win a free Idol inspired T-shirt.
