San Diego greeted the American Idol judges with lots of love. In addition they were lucky enough to stay at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. I say that only because I’ve stayed at there before which and its pretty nice even though its a ways outside of San Diego. Through out the crowd there were signs everywhere like I love Paula and Randy’s my Dawg! Unfortunately the judges didn’t share the love for San Diego. San Diego really irritated Simon. He was especially nasty and impatient tonight. To be fair, I cannot believe that Monique chick is so delusional that she actually thinks that she can sing. Maybe those sweet (not!) boots Simon was wearing were pinching his toes and making him irritable. Day 1 in San Diego did end well for Simon though. The final audition of the day, Samantha Musa, just loved Simon. She liked his bad boy image. She was pretty cute except for the sore on her lip. I was happy to see her just because she was one of the only auditions that were worth while in on Day 1.
On Day 2, the judges were visited by an old friend. Blake Boshnack he’s auditioned 10 times since season 3. His mom is a complete whack-job. She is like psycho stage mom except that her son is like in his 20’s. The sad part is even after being rejects 11 times this guy still thinks there is always next year. Yeh. Dude this picture is for you. Although, the one about If at first you don’t succeed, failure may be your style could also apply.
Perhaps the only thing more sad than Blake Boshnack was Alberto Hortado. He sang his own song which Simon called the most depressing song he had ever heard. The song was awful and he was scary. His handlers had nothing but praise for him though. This guy doesn’t need to be coddled. he needs a strong smack of reality to snap him out of his dream world.
As usual they saved the best audition for last. the Carly Simpson was disqualified in Season 5 after being selected to go to Hollywood because her visa paperwork hadn’t come through (she’s from Ireland). Simon in typical fashion told her it wasn’t as good as two years ago. In the end they all wanted her back in Hollywood. Good for her. I like this chick, she’s cute, she can sing, and has an awesome accent.
It turns out that San Diego was able to hold its own. Simon, Paula, and Randy selected 31 singers to join them in Hollywood. Tomorrow night we’re off to South Carolina. In the mean time, check out your chance to to win a free Idol inspired T-shirt.
