While we already heard the list of American Idol 2008’s Top 50 Finalist spoilers, but this next spoiler really breaks it down another step and you can thank Ford. Every week in last year’s American Idol weekly eliminations we were treated to a poorly disguised non-commercial commercial for Ford Motors. Looks like those plans haven’t changed one bit and they’re even moving them up earlier this year according to the Pasadena Star:
A cloak of secrecy hung over the filming of an “American Idol” segment on the rainy steps of City Hall early Tuesday morning.
About 16 of the talent-show contestants - no one from Fox television would say exactly how many - were filmed emerging from their cars and going up City Hall’s steps. No one would say why.
Ariel Penn, who heads the city’s film office, said she believed the Fox show might have used City Hall as a substitute for the Civic Auditorium. Normally, Penn said, the finalists audition in the auditorium’s Gold Room and are filmed going up the steps outside.
The auditorium’s steps, however, were closed off Tuesday due to construction, Penn said.
After a long silence, Rick Barr, general manager for the Civic Auditorium, confirmed that some finalists in the nationwide talent search were there to film Tuesday.
Well done Fox and Ford. Perhaps you could just send us all a set of headshots and their contact info so we can get on with this season as you seem desperate to do. Heck, fine with me anyways. i don’t get it. the names on the top 24 don’t match up with the people who are in the pics from the video shoot.

The people in the Ford commercial aren’t the Top 16, just 16 from the Top 50 or so. Also, that list of names was just a list of names. These are actual photos, which I’d give more weight.

oh crap i just read that these pics are rumored to have been taken in the morning. before the top 24 were really picked. why am i reading all this garbage? and why do i take TV so seriously. Hahahhahahahaha. I just really liked drew poppelreiter and josiah’s first hollywood song. That one blew me out of the water because i really didn’t think he was too great the audition round, but man. And then I saw the list and got pissed. Oh well, just have to wait till tomorrow. Even though I”m a nutty idol fan, if those 2 really are cut, I can’t see myself watching! OK this was 4 years long. I swear I’m not a 14 year old fan girl haha.
