Considering what a mess TV seems to be in these days it’s hard for me to keep up with anything other than American Idol and the pending early return of Big Brother 9. That’s not to say there isn’t anything else worth watching out there, just that I’m lazy. Yes, you heard me. I’m too lazy to watch more television. In fact, I’ve trained my dogs to type up these posts for me. Good dogs. No, don’t type that, I was talking to you. No, stop. Oh forget it. Anyways, here are some blurbs and videos to keep you occupied amidst this season of unscripted television.

First up, the return of Last Comic Standing, which I really enjoyed last season, is getting closer and that means it’s time for the auditions. Unfortunately there are a lot of bad comedians out there and you’ll have to sit through those. The good news is there have been lots of really funny folks too. If you’re up for auditioning then check out NBC’s official site with all the audition info. If you’re wiser than that then you can just enjoy this “best & worst” clip below.

Next up we’ve got Smash Labs on the Discovery Channel, which is a bit of a spin-off of Myth Busters just with more of a focus on blowing things up. Yeah, it sounds like fun. Tonight’s episode of Smash Lab: “There are nearly 3000 railway crossing accidents each year, and you have to believe that when a car is struck by a train barreling down the tracks, the results ain’t pretty. Tonight, the Smash Lab team will be testing an idea to use giant airbags on the front of a train to push cars safely out of the way.”
