After watching “There Will Be Blood” this weekend and thoroughly enjoying it, especially the perfect performance of Daniel Day-Lewis, I don’t see how anyone could possibly win this year’s Academy Award for Best Actor besides Day-Lewis. According to WENN, his competitor George Clooney is inclined to agree:
But Clooney has already given up hope of winning for his role in Michael Clayton - to add to his Best Supporting Academy Award for Syriana - after watching Day-Lewis in his nominated role in There Will Be Blood. He says, “If you want my honest opinion, I think it’s going to be Daniel Day-Lewis. He sort of irritates all of us because he’s so good. I’ll tell you right now, I don’t like him!”
I’m sure Clooney is kidding about not liking Day-Lewis. Now if the two had worked together I wouldn’t be surprised considering how difficult it’s rumored to be because of how serious he takes his acting work. Fine with me though. Be sure to give “Blood” a try if you have the patience for a character study film.
