The Big Brother 9 houseguests have been revealed and we know this season’s twist will be all about soulmates. But like all previous seasons I’m fully expecting that twist to fall flat on its behind. Remember last season’s “worst enemies” that turned out to produce the best alliance? Considering all that I’m already to put the twist(s) aside and take a look at who has the most potential to really get this house heated up in BB9.
Interestingly the CBS promo video for Big Brother 9 only highlighted nine of the houseguests. First up was Allison who says she has won and lost $5 million due to her gambling addiction. Considering the lack of poker tables and slots in the Big Brother house I’m not sure how much this angle could play into the season. I know we’ve got a few competitions where you have to wager against the other guests, but besides that I’m not aiming high for Allison.Next you’ve got Joshuah who is clearly one of the gay houseguests. He seems to be more of the Joe from BB8 gay male personality with his sassy head swaying and big promises of big events all thanks to him. While it doesn’t get pointed out in the main video from CBS Joshuahuahuah (the extra “h” seemed lonely) says he is actually bi-sexual and would go for a pretty blonde with a full chest. Well that’d certainly be a Big Brother first as I don’t remember us ever having a “goes both ways” houseguest. Joshuah could make for an interesting addition, but if he’s as over the top as Joe was then I’m not too interested.
On to Amanda who apparently wants to blow us away with her looks and her, uhh, oh yeah, brains. That was a convincing delivery there Amanda. I wonder which houseguest will be the one to let her know she’s 0 for 2 there. Big egos go a long way in this house though so I’ll rate Amanda as one of the leaders for drama. She’ll just need to be careful of the easy progression into oblivious ignorance of the house’s tide which could put her in danger very early on. Someone’s gotta be the first to go, will it be Amanda?
Alex seems to have his attitude all ready to go for the new season. I think he would have been fun to have around last season when Waahmber would start whining about how she needs to win this for her family, presumably to fund years of therapy. I kept waiting for Alex to start yelling, “Hey Paulie! Fuhgedaboutit!” Sure doesn’t sound like he’ll be too quick to take any crap from anyone in the house which could push him into a leadership role and just as easily a hot target for annoyed housemates. Hopefully he’s not just a big talker, but we’ll see.
Next up we’ve got Parker, our annual token African American who is once again tossed into the fray on a solo mission. Parker has an interesting background as he’s allegedly a member of the paparazzi and works for TMZ. I’ll try not to hold that against him (Have you seen TMZ’s show? It’s awful!). I wonder how he’ll hold up on the other side of the camera. Either way this self-described revenge x1000 seeker seems poised to rock the boat and could be a lot of fun this go around.
Ahh yes, here we are with Natalie, the buxom ex-stripper who is none-too-shy about it. This “bikini barista” says she isn’t afraid to show off her body and I don’t doubt her. From the photos floating around the interwebs it looks like Natalie will provide plenty of reasons to check out the uncensored feedsOffsetting any lack of confidence in the house will be Matt who wants to be Casanova to anyone and everyone available. I’m thinking he could be a good match with Amanda and from the photo above it looks like he’s already working on that connection not just with her but also with Bikini Natalie. I’ll be expecting plenty of showmancing from Matt which is always fun for us at home. As long as he doesn’t go all “Bee’s Knees Nick” on us with one of the girls he should be okay for awhile.
Neil will be the soulmate match to Joshuah as the second gay houseguest. His personality seems far more reserved than that of his counterpoint, thankfully, and I’m willing to bet that he’ll go farther in the game because of it. Neil’s 5 second interview doesn’t reveal much about him other than he has friends concerned with his dating patterns. I’m not expecting a lot from Neil from what we’ve been shown so far, but we’ll have to wait and see if he proves me wrong.
Lastly from the video we get to Chelsia (or Chelsea, depending on CBS’ current mood) who I think will rank high for Big Brother drama. Between her warning for her father to close his eyes and her bio revealing that she’s pierced “everything” it should be safe to expect some frisky action giving the right mood. And by mood I mean enough alcohol courtesy of Big Brother, of course. If Chelsia can make powerful friends I’d expect her to go pretty far as she seems to have a good enough attitude to keep her head in the game.
Okay, so that’s it for houseguests highlighted by CBS. Only 9 of the 16 were singled out, leaving us with 7 unknowns. Is that because they’ll be boring? Why did they get swept under the rug? When you’ve only got 2 minutes to present 16 people someone is going to get cut. Ah well. Just a few more days until we can meet the rest of the houseguests and see who will rise to the top. So who are your favorites at this point? Who do you think will be the first to be evicted? Join the discussions in the Big Brother 9 Forum.
