After months of waiting since we heard of its early arrival Big Brother 9 will premiere tonight on CBS at 9/8c. The details are thin, but the rumors are thick as we prepare for this inaugural winter edition of Big Brother. I’ll quickly recap what we know to get you ready for tonight’s premiere.

There are 16 houseguests, not the usual 14. We know that the twist will be “soulmates”, forcing each of the 16 houseguests to pair up based on a personality profile. This last point raises speculation on partnered evictions as Exec Producer Grodner mentioned that if the houseguests “aren’t careful they could be evicted together.” Vague and mysterious. Back to facts we know that tonight we’ll get to meet our houseguests, learn their official pairings, witness the first HoH competition, and even discover the very first nominations of the season. Now that is one action packed Big Brother 9 premiere! Following tonight’s premiere episode the online, uncensored feeds will go live. So if you’re planning to get those you might want to beat the rush and sign up now to be ready for when they get turned on, otherwise you could get stuck waiting on the sign-up server.

Things won’t slow down after tonight either. Wednesday night will likely present the PoV nominations, which should return to nominee selections rather than “miracle ping pong balls.” This will be followed by the first eviction(s) of the season. Allegedly (more rumors, of course), two people will be evicted this week, leaving just 14 in the house. That’s an interesting, rushed way to get things back to the usual 14 houseguest status of previous seasons. Sunday’s episode will present more pre-recorded material showing the aftermath of the first eviction and likely the emergence of alliances. From there the season will be in full swing with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday episodes.
