Nearly a month ago we found out the next James Bond movie, 22nd in the franchise, would be entitled, “Quantum of Solace.” I’ve had enough time to come to terms with this interesting selection and the fact that it was the name of a short story in Fleming’s Bond works didn’t really help. Then there was the whole realization that the director had never done an action movie and wanted to make it more of an emotional journey. Remember how disappointing the Bond movie was right after Golden Eye? Well here we are again. Golden Eye’s director came back for Casino Royale and has again departed and left us in shaky hands.

So yeah, I’ve got issues with this one already, but I’ll tell you what, this little rumored tidbit picks me way up on this next installment. Since the boss man from Casino Royale was never revealed and is intended to be exposed in 22 then it needs to be someone big… Ain’t It Cool News has the rumor details:

I met with a friend of mine recently, who is currently working on dismantling the sets of the new Bond movie at Pinewood, and will start soon on building the new sets when the crew return later in the year…

But the big news that he leaked was that Al Pacino would be taking part in filming. I was a little shocked as the cast has been revealed aready, but he said Pacino would play the head of the terrorist group introduced in CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Al is said to come to Pinewood in April-May to film what is said to be a brief cameo.

Okay, so yeah, the rumor is tainted by the whole “I’ve got this friend who knows someone who got stabbed by a midget on roller skates, but the guy who sold him the roller skates said…” How frickin’ sweet would that be though? Then again Pacino as the semi-villain in Ocean’s Thirteen was kinda weak. This would be very different though. I hope. What do you think? Would Pacino fit?
