This weekend the box office belonged to the newcomers as the four new releases held four of the top five spots. “Fool’s Gold” was the only previous release to get in the way as it bumped “Definitely, Maybe” into spot #5. I am surprised by Definitely’s performance considering its release during Valentine’s Day weekend. I imagine the studios were just as disappointed. “Jumper” actually did better than I expected considering its poor reviews (just 17% approval over at RottenTomatoes). I’m guessing that one will drop fast next week after word of mouth hits it. “Juno” and “There Will Be Blood” continue to do well despite their extended duration at the theaters.
