Hellboy II

While many comic book adaptations have been either disappointing or just good enough to get by Hellboy has been one of my favorite big screen transfers. The first Hellboy film maintained a dark and sinister approach which appropriately targeted an older market rather than watering it down for a bigger box office pull. Hellboy II: The Golden Army looks like it will continue to hold true to that as well. Ron Perlman is back as Hellboy, a literal hell spawn, captured by the US Government and raised to help fight off hidden evils in our world. If you missed the first installment and you enjoy a good dark action movie with some added wit then I’d highly recommend you go back and watch the original in preparation for Golden Army’s debut later this summer.
