Gary Gygax, co-creator of the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons died this morning at age 69 in his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Born Ernest Gary Gygax on July 27, 1938, Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974. Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) helped to popularize role-playing games. Gygax and Arneson’s company, Tactical Studies Research (TSR) helped to create the role-playing game industry. His wife Gail Gygax reported that Gygax had been suffering for several years with health problems, including an abdominal aneurysm. Gygax is survived by his wife and six children.
