BB9 Houseguests

Tonight’s Big Brother 9 takes us through the nomination ceremony for Ryan as the season’s first single HoH. The HGs are having immediate reactions to the new HoH as Matt says he’s excited at the idea of a new alliance. Joshuah and Sharon try to pull their feet out of their mouths as they realize they just tried to evict their new Big Brother 9 commander of the week. It’s fun to watch J&S sweat a little after a week of safety. Let’s see if they can survive the night.

BB gives us a look again at just how oblivious Natalie is to reality as she ponders on Matt’s joy over the couple’s separations. Matt immediately moved to the other side of the living room following Julie Chen’s announcement, which hurt Natalie’s feelings. Apparently what doesn’t hurt her feelings is when Matt tells her to stop touching him and that she’s kicked out of the back bedroom. Natalie tells us she thinks Matt is using reverse psychology and that he really does like her. Aww, that’s sad.

It’s James turn to worry a little now though as he’s expecting Chelsia to turn on him and start acting differently now that Ryan’s the HoH. James follows Chelsia into the spa room and decides to open up to her. He tells Chelsia that he really does have feelings for her and that he wants to keep sharing a bed even though the couples have been split. Chelsia responds that she thinks they shouldn’t do that because they need to keep a low profile and couples would be targeted. I can’t tell if Chelsia really likes James or if she just covers up not liking him with lines like that. Their talk goes on for a little more and they both agree to try and win the game as a couple. Chelsia also gives James permission to evict her if it comes down to it.

A bigger alliance is brewing though and it surrounds the new power in the house, Ryan. Matt approaches Ryan with the proposition and Ryan immediately jumps in to it. They head outside and bring in Adam and James to their new “guys alliance”, for lack of a better name. James tells us in the DR that he’s not so sure about this group considering the way things change so fast in the house.

In case we had started to forget how absent-minded Natalie was Big Brother reminds us with another few “duh” moments. Natalie calls over Ryan and Matt to the hamster cage so she can point out how there are three colors on the four-colored toy. She literally has to count on her hand to four to understand there are more than three colors. This gets followed with her statement that there are 27 letters in the 26 letter alphabet. Again we have to go through a hand count to confirm she was wrong. Sigh.

Now it’s time for some healthier fun as the houseguests gather for the food competition. The house is split into two teams for the comp where the losers will be stuck on slop for the next week. All it takes to win is spell the most words using the floating alphabet in the chocolate soup. There doesn’t seem to be any reason to the chocolate soup other than it looks really gross. The teams seem to be really outmatched as the Red Team is slowed down by Sheila who can’t make up her mind on which words to spell. Joshuah isn’t helping either as he tries to spell chicken as “chiken”. In the end the Blue team wins, putting Sheila, Sharon, Joshuah, and Chelsia on Big Brother Slop for the week.

We finally get to the big ceremony as Ryan brings out the wheel of doom. Everyone is sweating it as the keys are brought out one by one. In the end Ryan has nominated Sharon and Chelsia. I’m not surprised by Sharon but am definitely caught off guard by the nomination of Chelsia. I don’t see much reason or motivation for putting her up. It seems like the natural nominations would have been Sharon and Joshuah.

Tuesday night we’ll see the Power of Veto competition and ceremony. If you can’t wait until then check out those spoilers here.
