As a victim of the WGA Strikes the seventh season of “24″ ended up being cut completely in lieu of trying a half season in the spring and half season in the fall. I think this was the right choice considering how much “24″ relies on its momentum each week to keep audiences tuned in. Well since the 2008 season was bumped to 2009 the network has decided upon an interesting tactic to raise our interests as we get closer to the new season next January. This fall FOX will put out a 2 hour movie as a prequel to the seventh season, says The Hollywood Reporter:
Fox’s “24″ will be returning in the fall, after all.
The producers of the Emmy-winning series are developing a two-hour “prequel” to the upcoming seventh season.
The movie, designed to bridge the two-year gap between Seasons 6 and 7, is targeted to air in the fall, leading to the January return of the real-time drama. On Wednesday, “24″ producers began securing the show’s core cast members for the film.
So what do you think? Will it be too weird to try and watch a two hour, non-real-time installment of Jack and his crew? Personally, I’m pretty excited about the idea and I think it could give an impression of the potential for a big-screen adaptation of the series. This will still be many months away, so sit back and wait.
