Dune

There’s no script and no writers attached, but Peter Berg (The Kingdom) has been signed on to direct a remake of David Lynch’s 1984 cult classic “Dune”. That might have been the last time Lynch made anything remotely sequential and sane. Usually I hate remakes, especially of movies that were already well done in the first place, but sci-fi movies seem ideal for a touch-up with today’s graphic abilities. MovieWeb reports:

Peter Berg has signed on to direct the second big screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel Dune. According to Variety, the film is being produced by Paramount Pictures.

Writers are currently being sought for the project. The producers are hoping for a faithful adaptation of the book. Paramount is envisioning it as a tentpole picture. We can most likely expect to see the film sometime in 2011.

Sometime in 2011? But I need Spice now! Not to worry though, I can feel this being ruined already. Suits are sitting around at Paramount right now going, “you know who would be perfect for this? Hayden Christensen!”
