Snake Eyes was always one of my favorite Joe’s and I probably wasn’t alone. He didn’t have any annoying tag lines that got worn out but instead was just the badass on the force. So I think it was a pretty wise choice to make Snake Eyes the first official character released to the public for the upcoming G.I. Joe movie.
Snake Eyes will be played by the well recognized silent character actor Ray Park (Darth Maul). Sure, sure he’s done some other things, but most remember him for that role. Overall I’m excited but it’s comments like this that worry me on modernizing the characters:
“He’s the world’s greatest ninja, but he’s also next-generation. He’s not afraid to use a sword one second, and a split-second later he’s pulling out his Glock,” says director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy and Van Helsing). “His chief nemesis is arguably the world’s other great ninja, Storm Shadow. The two grew up together, were blood brothers and now are mortal enemies.”
I don’t really need Snake “pulling out his Glock.” I’ll take him just the way he used to be, thank you very much.
