Indiana Jones 4 “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” will be released in just under two months! I’m very excited for this as I’ve been watching all the photos, posters, and even the trailer get released all along the way. But hold on, says producer and co-writer George Lucas. Lucas is wary of similar reactions to the rebirth he gave the Star Wars series with its 1999 return in “Phantom Menace.”
USA Today got the chance to sit down and talked with the famed movie maker on the conclusion to Ford’s stint as Indy:
“When you do a movie like this, a sequel that’s very, very anticipated, people anticipate ultimately that it’s going to be the Second Coming,” Lucas says. “And it’s not. It’s just a movie. Just like the other movies.”
“You’re not going to get a lot of accolades doing a movie like this. All you can do is lose.”
Okay, so after he turned the hose on our feverish anticipation Lucas put a small bandage on the wounds:
“It was really a blast” to make. “And it turned out fantastic. … I like to watch it.”
What do you think? Will it be the best Indiana Jones ever? What about just better than “Temple of Doom”? I’m hoping we get a whole slew of melting faces just like “Raiders”! That’ll let me leave the theaters happy.

it’s gonna be tough to even come close to the quality and originality of the original Indiana Jones’

I think you’re right, Patrick. I did like hearing that Lucas & crew went back and watched the old ones over and over so they could get the feel back in their minds. I’m anxious to see how they did!
