The ten remaining couples perform tonight. Each of the couples will be performed either the Tango or the Jive. There are several couples including Steve & Anna, Adam & Julianne, and Marissa & Tony need to have really great performances tonight. This is how the couples did:
Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez
Dance: Jive
That was pretty good. I am still amazed at how well Marlee Maitlin can dance, especially during a fast energetic dance like the Jive. Len was also impressed with Marlee’s ability to perform the Jive. Bruno said that the did a good job even though Marlee lost the beat a few times. Carrie Ann told Marlee to watch her hands because the tend to be pancakey.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Steve Guttenberg & Anna Trebunskaya
Dance: Tango
Steve & Anna did a good job. I would have liked to see a little faster, more energetic Tango. I found Steve’s facial expressions very distracting. Carrie Ann thought that was Steve and Anna’s best performance so far. Len loved the footwork. Bruno thought it was very manly.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Christian De La Fuente & Cheryl Burke
Dance: Jive
That was also a good performance at least if you leave out the part when Christian slide into the light at the end it. Bruno said it was their best dance yet. Len criticized Christian’s leg and arm positioning but, did think it was their best performance so far. Carrie Ann thought they had improved by miles.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 25
Mario & Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Tango
I really liked this Tango. It was crisp and sharp. It was fun. I also liked the arrangement of Roxanne by The Police that they danced to. Len thought it was a mess because the footwork, holds, etc were very sloppy. Carrie Ann agreed with Len. Bruno enjoyed it but agreed that they could do better.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 6
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 21
Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough
Dance: Jive
That was fun and I definitely enjoyed watching it but, Shannon doesn’t quite have the grace and elegance you would expect. She is long and lanky but just didn’t move a smoothly or cleanly as someone like Stacey Kiebler. Bruno loved it. He also said that she had to work on her control on precision. Len thought it was a really good jive. Carrie Ann thought it was surprise.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24
Adam Carrola & Julianne Hough
Dance: Tango
I almost didn’t recognize Julianne when she came out with that little red bob wig. To me, it looked like Adam spent a lot of time as a frame around which Julianne danced. Carrie Ann thought Adam looked sexy out there. Bruno said that Adam was not a master technician but he is getting better. Len complimented Julianne on her choreography because she made Adam look like a dancer.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Jive
This was probably the performance I liked the least tonight. Len thought it was little bit careful, there were also a bit too many foot faults. Carrie Ann thought it was boring. She did not think Marissa was giving her best. Bruno also thought it looked like Marissa was dancing on cruise control..
Carrie Ann Inaba: 6
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 6
Total: 19
Priscilla Presley & Louis van Amstel
Dance: Tango
I thought this was probably a technically sound Tango but it was just OK for me. I didn’t think it was very exciting. The judges obviously disagreed with me though. Bruno thought it was well executed and beautifully performed. Len enjoyed the passion, drama, fire, and ice. Carrie Ann believed every minute of it.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 26
Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Jive
At first I thought it was a little slow but as the dance went on I found myself enjoying it more. I especially enjoyed the acrobatics at the end. Carrie Ann liked it but thought Jason needed some work because he went back to dancing ’small’. Bruno thought it was restrained yet powerful. Len didn’t think it had any Jive action. He thought it was too loose and sloppy.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 23
Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas
Dance: Tango
Ballroom perfection! Kristi Yamaguchi may be one of the most amazing performers they have had on Dancing With The Stars. This dance was great clean, sharp, and passionate. Len thought it was a great routine. Carrie Ann liked the technique but thought Kristi needed to work on her acting. Bruno thought it was delivered with precision but that Kristi needed to be more of a dirty girl. I was wondering where I could get one of those maroon suits.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27 (Best score of the night)
Judges Leader Board
Kristi & Mark: 27
