I love a good April Fool’s Day joke and there were plenty going around on the interwebs today. One of the most memorable is way back when (1996) Taco Bell announced they were buying the Liberty Bell and renamed it the “Taco Liberty Bell”. I thought it was great because here was a big, serious business having a little fun. So these couple of jokes from NBC might not have been on as grand a scale as claiming to purchase a piece of national history, but I still loved them because they were about my favorite comedies.
First up was The Office with their on going rivalry between the Scranton branch and the Racine branch. The official NBC Office site was done up to look like Racine hackers broke in and “updated” the employee photos and added some doodles of their own.

Even better was the incredibly subtle joke for 30 Rock on the MSNBC.com site. I never would have seen this one if it wasn’t for my favorite tipster, Shankar (thanks buddy!). If you don’t watch 30 Rock (shame on you!) then you would never get the joke. Look all the way to the bottom right and see who really owns MSNBC:

They’ve even got t-shirts made up for the Sheinhardt Wig Company. Bonus!
Well done NBC. I laughed. I cried. I want my comedies back now!
