Update: David Cook’s hospitalization details now available here.
Last night’s American Idol performance show was pretty interesting. None of the Top 9 really had a terrible night. There were a few performances that stood out. My top three were probably David Cook’s Little Sparrow, Carly Smithson’s Here You Come Again, and Michael John’s Its All Wrong But Its Alright. I think that David Archuleta’s Smokey Mountain Memories, Jason Castro’s Traveling Through, and Brook White’s Jolene were also very popular with the fans. I feel safe in saying that none of these six will go home.
That only leaves the performers I think will be in the bottom three tonight: Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, and Kristy Lee Cook. Kristy had a really good night. The whole Dolly Parton/Country theme worked really well for her, so I think she will be safe again. I would like to predict that Ramiele Malubay will be going home tonight (just like I did last week), but I learned my lesson. Even though I think that Ramiele is the weakest of the remaining performers, she apparently has a stronger fan base than some of the others. That only leaves one contestant, Syesha Mercado. Syesha sang I Will Always Love You last night. This song is unfortunately too big for her and her version of course paled in comparison to Whitney Houston’s. So I’m guessing that tonight is the night Syesha will be leaving American Idol.
