Last night our American Idol finalists performed hits from Dolly Parton. They began tonight’s results show with a group performance of Dolly’s hit 9 to 5 which was not nearly as cheesy as I had expected. I was really happy to David Cook on stage with the rest of the finalists following his trip to the hospital last night. Following a recap of last night’s performances, Ryan began telling the contestants how they did. Last up yesterday but first up tonight, Michael Johns was safe. Next up were David ‘nerd-boy’ Archuleta and Carly Smithson who were also quickly sent to the sofa by Ryan. I certainly wasn’t surprised that any of these three were safe.
David Cook talked with Ryan briefly about his hospital trip. He explained that he had high pressure and it spiked prior to the show yesterday. He’s “Cool now,” so no worries. David didn’t have any worries either he went straight to the sofa as well (and he deserved it). Ramiele was the first contestant to be sent to the stools instead of the sofa and safety. Despite the fact that yesterday’s Country theme was perfect for her, Kristy Lee Cook also found herself in the bottom three as well.
I enjoyed seeing the American Idol alumni living in Nashville. Bucky Covington apparently put out an album. It can’t have done that well since no one I’ve spoken with have heard of it. Phil Stacey has his country CD coming out at the end of May. I’m looking forward to that one. I liked Phil Stacey. The final AmIdol alum was Bo Bice who also put out a CD under his own label.
When they got back to tonight’s results, I was shocked when Ryan told Syesha Mercado that she was safe. I thought for sure she was the one going home tonight. My second shock came when Ryan sent Brook White to the stools and told Jason Castro he was safe.
This Week’s Bottom Three:
- Ramiele Malubay
- Kristy Lee Cook
- Brook White
When asked, Simon said that he thought this bottom three was 100% correct. I really liked Brook’s performance much better than Jason Castro’s. Jason always sounds the same to me. When asked again Simon said that he thought Brook would be safe and she was. Kristy also survived to sing another day. Randy said it would be Ramiele and he was right. This morning I was afraid to predict that it would be Ramiele because she survived last week when I thought she should have gone home. I should have stuck with me gut. I believe that Ramiele was definitely the right choice to go home this week (In fact I thought she should have left last week instead of Chikezie).
Say goodbye to Ramiele Malubay America.
Come back next week when we’ll take a look at the performances of the American Idol Top 8.
