After so many failed attempts at getting the video game legend Halo onto the big screen it sounds like it may finally be happening in a big way. Forget just one Halo movie. Rumor has it there will be a full set of three movies, but they won’t match up exactly to the trilogy of video games.
Screenwriter Stuart Beattie (GI JOE) has put together a screenplay entitled, “Halo: Fall of Reach.” Reach being the name of the planet where future special forces are based in their attempt to prevent the Covenant from finding Earth.
As I mentioned, this plan for the movies won’t sync up with the games. The first one, “Fall of Reach”, will be a prequel to the story where we’ll learn about the history behind the elite Spartans. Latino Review has more details on all three Halo movie plans:
The script is, first and foremost, a character-driven story about a soldier named John who was kidnapped or “conscripted” by the UNSC when he was just six years old, and then brutally trained to become an elite Spartan warrior known as Master Chief 117.
The script also gives detailed outlines for the second movie, HALO: RISE OF THE FLOOD, which takes place entirely on the Halo ringworld, and the third and final movie, HALO: BATTLE FOR EARTH, which roughly follows the events of Halo 3, the game.
Okay, was that enough geek for ya? Anyone else excited for the potential here?
