Picking back up after the eviction we’re reminded that we’re up to Day 56 in the Big Brother 9 timeline. Sheila was impressed by how Joshuah handled his eviction. Ryan thought his little speech was cheesy because of how much of a 180 it was. Adam loves seeing how the other HGs break down and what’s in their core. He wasn’t impressed with Sharon’s tears over Joshuah’s departure.
Adam’s win in the HoH comp has Sharon and James concerned. Natalie now thinks she’s getting messages from God because she had a dream about Adam winning a few days ago. James and Sharon are in the back room sweating the situation. James says he hates everyone in the house. Sharon decides now she “hates this place.”
James comes into the kitchen and starts the nomination talk. He tells Adam to put up Sheila and James and let them duke it out. Adam jokes about going with it and she gets upset. Adam tells us in the diary room that he may use her as the pawn and he should tell her ahead of time. It’s the second time tonight the DR has to subtitle Adam when he’s in there talking. That’s pretty rare as it’s usually reserved for whispers.
Heading up to Adam’s HoH the HGs are wondering how many tubs of baby food there will be this time. Adam gets a letter from his mom. She tells him she watches the live feeds, but has to close her eyes everytime he picks his nose. Hmm, she must just keep her eyes closed most the time. Adam is also excited to hear there is a “long list of babies” waiting to meet him when he gets out.
Adam and Nat are concerned about Sheila sitting around outside with Sharon and James. Ryan discloses to us that Sheila is dispensable and will likely be the first to go from our group.
James starts to work on Adam to see if there is anything he can do to save himself. His wandering around the house alone as the other HGs are hanging out together. James decides that he won’t give up. He’ll fight through and “win this game,” he promises us. Should be exciting to see if he can survive the flood again.
James decides to have some fun with Sheila again. He says that if she’s not going to win any competitions that she should at least bring some entertainment. First they TP her bedroom (which was really awesome). Then they stuff Natalie in the garbage can and scare Sheila. Next up James dumps flour or something all over her face. Now that wasn’t as funny as the first two. I think she kinda likes the attention, but it must still be annoying.
Sheila starts talking about being a single mom. Wow, is she really? I hadn’t heard her mention that this hour. What’s next? Is she going to tell us she’s 45?! She really misses her son though. She’s crying in front of Adam about it. I can’t help but think she’s playing this a little to make sure she can get some sympathy votes. Probably truth in there, but she doesn’t hold back any either.
Sharon tells us that her plan is to lay low and wait for others to come to her. Well she’s definitely laying low. Ryan comes to her and says they should start a secret alliance of the “nicest people: final two.”
Ryan and Adam talk about the situation and who should be nominated. They lean towards Sharon and James. Adam talks about Sheila, but says he can’t deal with her bull that he’d get over a nomination. Ryan says he was working Adam to protect Sharon, his new secret alliance.
Interestingly, right before BB9 comes back from commercial we get a “CBS Cares” message about autism. Hmm, is CBS finally coming back to make up for the big hoopla over Adam’s “retards” comments?
Food Competition:
Ryan is ready to get off slop as he’s been on it all week. The HGs head out back and there’s a huge board/ramp with mashed potatoes all over it. Ugh, this is going to be messy. This is awesome!! The HGs have to use mashed potatoes (mp) to get gravy down the ramp to tubes at the bottom. They’ll have to use the mp to make a path down to the tubes. Messy, messy, messy. They’ve got just 10 mins. If they don’t get it they go back to slop and all the mp they want this week.
It goes a lot better than I thought it might. Except with Sheila and Natalie. Sheila starts pouring before Natalie is ready. They fight and they make up. Ryan steals James’ gravy to get “outdoor toys” and that upsets him. They’re working hard to get the BBQ grill, but run out of time. They still sit there watching as gravy they already poured slowly filled up the tube.
They failed to get the “gourmet feast”, “beer & soda”, and a few other things that sounded better to me than “outdoor toys”. Ah well.
CBS is reminding us to get details on applying for Big Brother 10 by going to bigbrother10.net!
James is starting again to work on Adam James is sure he hasn’t wronged Adam and wants him to know that. Just as they start talking Ryan walks in and halts the conversation. They wait until he’s gone before continuing. Adam tells James he doesn’t see a way around it.
Ryan goes to talk about Adam and finds out James is trying to work him over. Ryan calls up Natalie and they dig into Adam to make sure he understands why he has to nominate James. She explains that if Adam doesn’t nom James and James wins the PoV then he’ll use it to save Sharon and either Ryan or Nat will go up and be evicted. (This is the exact scenario I detailed last week.)
James goes back to Adam and tries to get into his mind. Natalie decides to break it up and butts into the conversation. James is fighting with Nat and looks like he could get emotional again. Oh yes, I thought so. James starts balling his eyes out. He says he’s crying because he likes Adam and can’t get them to talk to him about the game. Nat heads out and leaves Adam and James alone, bad idea Nat. Now Adam’s crying because James is crying. CBS should run this during the daytime for their new soap! Hilarious. In the end Adam promises James he won’t put him up on the block. Egad, Brain.
Nomination Ceremony:
Adam is trying to figure it out as he says everyone is coming to him with what’s best for them, not him. There are just three keys this week (wow, so close to the end!). Natalie, Ryan, and James are safe this week (for now). Adam has nominated: Sheila & Sharon. Here comes the wrath of Sheila! Adam explains his nominations. He says that he decided to fast forward to the situation to when James gets to win the PoV. He says that if the house really wants James out then they’ll have to fight for the PoV.
Wow, his speech actually makes a lot of sense. Sheila walks away and tells him he’s now the biggest jerk in the house. She says she’d never do that to him. Well no kidding, because Sheila never wins anything, so how could she ever nominate him?? Ryan is upset and so is Natalie, by Adam’s decision not to nominate James. Adam’s plan isn’t as bad as they think though.
Tuesday night we’ll see how the Power of Veto competition and ceremony plays out. Can’t wait until then? Go to BigBrother9.Net to see all the spoilers right now.

Big Brother 9: Week 9 Power of Veto Preview - April 6, 2008 | Wild Bluff Media : Entertainment Examined
April 8th, 2008 at 10:04 am[...] Adam’s nominations are in on Big Brother 9 and Natalie might even be tempted to call them “D-U-M”. I heard about them days before from the spoilers, but it wasn’t until I got to hear Adam’s speech that I thought things sounded a little more reasonable. If James was nominated he’d get to play for the PoV and possibly save himself. There’s no difference here as the same thing will happen. If James wins the PoV on tonight’s episode then he’d be safe. If he loses then he’s done and evicted for the week. It really didn’t matter whether or not Adam nominated James. [...]
