A few weeks ago Britney Spears showed up on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother”, giving it the series’ highest ratings ever. The lead up to that airing caused plenty of commotion with the idea of Spears doing something that didn’t involve Twinkies and talking like an English woman.
Not everyone was excited though as the other guest star, Alicia Silverstone, dropped out though her rep said it wasn’t over Brit joining the episode. Meanwhile HIMYM star Neil Patrick Harris voiced his concern over the idea too. All that did little to stop Britney’s return to non-papz media attention.
Now that the episode has aired and succeeded one of its stars is concerned this could start a trend. The Hollywood Reporter has Harris’ thoughts on HIMYM getting Spear’d:
“I’m in the minority that our show does not need stunt casting in order to succeed,” Harris declared during a break from taping the Monday night CBS sitcom, which has grown a cult following since its 2005 debut.
“I worry that if they start ‘Will & Grace’-ing us too much, that the show will suffer. And we’re all really proud of the content of the show.
But wait, if those 5 extra people that watched “How I Met Your Mother” told another 5 people there could be up to 20 people watching that show at any given week!
