That’s right you heard me. “No, no,” you say, “You must be mistaken. They are working on High School Musical 3 right now.” Yes, they are working on High School Musical 3: Senior Year right now. However, they are already working on the sequel to that as well. High School Musical 3 is set to be released on October 24, 2008. It will be the first of the High School Musical movies to be released in theaters instead of being debuted on the Disney Channel. Disney knows a good thing when they see one. They are not above milking a good thing for as much as it’s worth.
The Hollywood Reported broke the story after Disney Channel Worldwide President, Rich Ross told them that they were already writing HSM 4 even before HSM 3 hits theaters. During an interview with Ashley Tisdale, who plays Sharpay in the HSM movies, Us Magazine confirmed the story. Ashley Tisdale also let slip that some of the original cast may not be returning for the fourth installment. Get ready parents. Just when you thought it was safe to turn on the Disney Channel again, it looks like High School Musical is a Disney franchise that is here to stay!
