The story you’ve probably seen if you’ve been watching: Teenage girls in Florida brutally beating another girl senseless and then putting it on Youtube. 8 teens were arraigned in the ongoing saga. The new developments? It seems tonight the ringleader of the of remorseless fame-whores , Mercedes Nichols, has been bailed out of jail by… Dr. Phil. $30,000 bail, reportedly paid in full. Sources close to the show say amounts that large usually have to be approved by Dr. Phil himself, or a very senior staffer.
As the teen was leaving jail, a representative for the Dr. Phil show shooed away the paparazzi, including the Tampa local media. Smart local media got it all on tape! The hired guns said that they had an exclusive, and the girl and her grandmother couldn’t talk to any other press. Quelle Scandale. This case already has a lot of people extremely angry and upset. The video has been playing in a regular loop in the news media this weekend. The assaulters basically laughed off their time in front of the judge when being arraigned. Cocky little bratz, with no remorse for their victim who now has loss of sight and hearing
In waltzes the Dr. Phil show, trying to bag a violent, high-profile teen for a ratings boost. The stuff hit the fan pretty fast, probably due to the pissed off local media. Now Dr. Phil is saying it was a rogue producer who went out of the boundaries of his “guidelines”. He’s gonna blame it on a staffer. What a real man.
The ultimate irony? The judge had issued a gag order in the case, and the people involved can’t talk to each other, the media, go on the internet, within 500 feet of each other, and several other restrictions. Punk! Dr. Phil (or the rogue staffer) sure didn’t do his homework! Nobody can talk to you!! You think his debacle of “trying to help with Britney” at her lowest point in the psych ward would have taught him something! They sent him packing,. I imagine the staffer taking the fall for this one is packing too.
“Dr. Phil” McGraw’s spokeswoman Terri Corigliano told the Associated Press:
“We have helped guests and potential guests in the past when they need financial assistance to come on the show — assisting with clothing allowance, lost wages, accommodations, travel and necessities,” Corigliano wrote. “In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines (re the bail being paid).
“These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised.”
Why does it take public reaction of condemnation for Dr. Phil and crew to realize they’re doing stupid things time and time again?
