Tonight on Dancing With The Stars the 8 remaining couples performed either the Samba or the Rumba. This was a rough night. Overall the scores were lower than last week. I don’t think any of the couples were able to improve their scores from last week.
Mario & Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Samba
I thought that was really good. Mario & Karina are back. Len thought that the Samba really suited these two. Len told Mario he still needed to work on his footwork. Bruno loved it. He thought it was a classic Samba. Carrie Ann said it was nice and clean, to the point.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27
Priscilla Presley & Louis van Amstel
Dance: Rumba
Priscilla & Louis had was a very sensual performance. They did some very difficult moves. Priscilla had some trouble with her foot placement though and made some other mistakes as well. Bruno called her, “sensual but not trashy.” Bruno said her performance is always great however the slowness of the rumba exposed a lot of the faults. Carrie Ann said Priscilla was a little too focused on the technical aspects of the performance. As a result he didn’t think it flowed. Len was very disappointed.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 21
Marissa Jaret Winokur & Tony Dovolani
Dance: Samba
Marissa & Tony gave a very high energy performance. I’m still not a big fan of Marissa & Tony but this is probably one of their better performances. They got a standing ovation from audience. Carrie Ann agreed with me that this was best so far. Although she thought they were little off in the beginning. Len liked the mix of steps. According to Len, Marissa has, “More bounce to the ounce”. He also told her that she needed more hips and less shoulders. Bruno said Marissa was, “Bouncing like a beach ball.” He agreed with Carrie Ann that they were a little off at beginning
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 24 (Same as last week)
Cristian De La Fuente & Cheryl Burke
Dance: Rumba
I really liked this performance. Cristian needs to put in some more effort on his footwork. He also seemed a little hesitant to me in some places. Overall they did a nice job with the sensuality. Len thought it was a competent performance but it didn’t blow him away. Bruno thought the chemistry was great, but the performance was just OK. Carrie Ann disagreed with Bruno. She didn’t think the chemistry was there. Carrie Ann thought they could have made it more erotic. She also told them they needed to work on the sustaining their movement.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 23
Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez
Dance: Samba
For the first time, Marlee was off the music a little when she and Fabian were not touching. This was one of the worst performances Marlee & Fabian have had this season. Bruno called her hot and sexy. He also said that she frequently lost the timing. Carrie Ann picked up on lots of stumbles and slips. Len told Marlee that she dances with confidence and the samba is hardest of the Latin dances.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 7
Len Goodman: 7
Bruno Tonioli: 8
Total: 22
Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas
Dance: Rumba
Definitely the best rumba of the evening. It was not as sensual as some of the others, but I thought Kristi did a much better job of performing this week. She seemed to be having fun with it too. Carrie Ann, commended her for taking a risk this week. Len said she, “Cast off the shackles of inhibition. Fab-U-Lous!” Bruno called her “Kristi Yummy-licious.” He thought it was stupendous.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Total: 29
Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough
Dance: Samba
That was a fun performance. You could tell that Shannon & Derek were enjoying themselves. That being said, it wasn’t as hot as it could have been. Shannon didn’t let herself go to the music as much as I would have liked. She almost seemed a little awkward. Len said that as good as it was it wasn’t good enough. He didn’t think Shannon had enough hip action. Bruno told Shannon, “You have to come out and shack those maracas.” He also wondered if the choreography may have been too hard for Shannon to sell. Carrie Ann said that some times it looked a little awkward. She told Shannon she needs to work on her shape.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 8
Len Goodman: 8
Bruno Tonioli: 7
Total: 23
Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska
Dance: Rumba
As usual for the final routine, this was the best performance of the whole evening. For such a big guy, Jason sure can move his hips. Bruno called Jason a, “Love God.” He liked Jason’s hip movements and lines. Carrie Ann thought they had the, “Most insane chemistry on the dance floor”. She added that Jason needed to be careful of his arms when they were down. Len thought Jason was just, “Like a bloke having a dance.” Len really didn’t like all the poses though.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 9
Len Goodman: 9
Bruno Tonioli: 9
Total: 27
Judges Leader Board
Kristi & Mark: 29
Mario & Karina: 27
Jason & Edyta: 27
Marissa & Tony: 24
Shannon & Derek: 23
Cristian & Cheryl: 23
Marlee & Fabian: 22
Priscilla & Louis: 21

YES! YES! YES! KRISTI did excellent…we are very happy with her performance tonight-AGAIN! Mark is doing such a wonderful ‘job’ with Kristi…Derek should have had a few more points to his routine. We are glad that delaburke rec’d a 23…Jason did wonderful.

Looks like Kristi just might win it all this season.
