Prom Night 2008

Wow. This was a surprise return on the box office numbers this weekend. “Prom Night” the slasher remake tore apart the other new movies with a $10 million lead over Keanu Reeve’s “Street Kings”. “Prom” had been intended to come out as an R rated movie, but after the backlash of failures with other torture porn flicks this was downgraded to PG-13. Perhaps we’re looking at a reemergence of the “I Know What You Did” style movies with this film’s success. They definitely need something new to try with that genre these days.
