LOST Season 4 Finale Gets Extra Hour But Is Split Up

Looks like LOST has found a little wiggle room in its increasingly shrinking fourth season. ABC’s entertainment president, Steve McPherson, told E!’s Kristin that instead of the 13 episodes we’d be promised for this season of LOST we’ll get a bonus hour added on to the finale. That bumps the LOST finale up to three full hours. Sounds good, right? Well it gets kinda weird when ABC decides the best way to conclude a confusing season is with a well divided conclusion:

The first hour airs May 15, the second and third hours will air May 29, beginning at 9 p.m.

Word is there are so many big reveals the producers wanted to deliver this season that they felt anything less than a full three-hour finale would have cheated the fans.

I’m all for getting an extra hour of LOST this season, which kinda bumps it up to a 14th episode, but why a two week split in the middle of the ending? On top of that, with the series moving to 10pm’s on Thursday instead of 9pm, everyone that is used to it being on at 10 after a month could miss the second hour of the 3 hour finale when it starts at 9pm. Sheesh. Way to keep your audience as confused as your characters, LOST.
