American Idol Stage

Tonight on American Idol, the remaining 6 finalists perform the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Awesome. (Ok not really). The key tonight for the performances is going to be taking this music and turning it into something that doesn’t sound like a Broadway musical. This will be a real test for these artists. The first one who sings a song the way it was performed on stage is going to incur the scornful wrath of Simon Cowell. They will deserve it. I think David Cook and Carly Smithson has a good chance to pull this off. Brooke needs to do something other than an unplugged piano version of a song. Syesha is going to be too tempted to try to show off her voice. Every week, David Archuleta has a contrived performance that looks like it was choreographed for Broadway and I think he may suffer for that tonight. As for Jason Castro, he’s just going to do his own thing. Depending on his song choice it could be really awesome or really, really bad. It should be interesting at least. It can’t be worse than next week when the Idols have to sing Neil Diamond hits (blech!).

Neil Diamond = “blech”?! I might not want to see some of those kids singing Diamond, but there’s nothing wrong with some good ol’ Diamond.

  2. Erin

    I second Matt’s emotion.
